Multiple October 7 survivors have publicly stated that Israeli forces shot and killed some of their own civilians during the chaos — specifically in Kibbutz Be’eri, where the IDF applied the Hannibal Directive (orders to prevent captures even at risk to hostages).

The clearest testimony comes from Yasmin Porat
She was held hostage in a house in Be’eri with ~14 other Israelis (including 12-year-old twins). After she was released by Hamas fighters (who she said treated the hostages “humanely” and wanted to negotiate surrender), Israeli forces arrived and opened intense fire, including two tank shells into the small house killing most of the hostages inside.

Porat told Israeli state radio (Kan’s “This Morning Show” with Aryeh Golan, Oct 15 2023):

“After insane crossfire, two tank shells were shot into the house… They eliminated everyone, including the hostages… Undoubtedly [our forces] shot them.”

Only she and one other hostage (Hadas Dagan) survived that house; the rest (including children) were killed in the IDF barrage.

The second survivor from the same house, Hadas Dagan, later confirmed the exact same thing in a Channel 12 Israeli TV interview: the army attacked the house with tank fire and heavy weapons, even though they knew civilians were inside.

Other related cases
Nova festival area: Israeli Apache helicopters fired heavily on vehicles fleeing the site. A police source and Haaretz investigation found at least some festival-goers were likely hit (one confirmed case: Efrat Katz from nearby Nir Oz was killed by helicopter fire while being abducted).

The IDF itself has admitted there was an “immense and complex quantity” of friendly-fire incidents on Oct 7, and its own Be’eri probe confirmed tank shells were fired into houses with known hostages.

These accounts are from Israeli survivors speaking on Israeli media, not conspiracy channels. The Hannibal Directive was activated in multiple locations that day amid the panic of Hamas overrunning the border. Most of the ~1,200 deaths were still caused by Hamas, but these friendly-fire cases (dozens, possibly more) are now documented in Israeli investigations, Haaretz reporting, and survivor testimony.
