Kuminga chose the Timberwolves over offers from the Lakers, Bulls and Trail Blazers -- bypassing a similar starting role and $12M-plus annually over three years in L.A. to land in Minnesota for a shorter-term deal and an ability to have more control of his future, sources said.
I spent years chasing the dream of becoming an NBA scout.
Then I got there.
And it was the best job I’ve ever had.
I moved my family to Paris, traveled across Europe, scouted basketball for a living and loved every minute of it.
8 months later, it was over.
I wrote about the experience, the lessons and how it changed me.

Statement from Jim, Johnny, Janie, Joey and Jesse Buss after attorney of Jeanie Buss made clear she will battle her family members on selling their remaining 17.8% Lakers ownership stake:
The Los Angeles Lakers have never been just a basketball team. They have been one of the greatest privileges of our lives.
Our focus has always been on what we believe is best for the Lakers, the fans who have supported this franchise for generations and the greater Los Angeles community.
Johnny, Jimmy, Janie, Joey and Jesse have made the decision to sell the family's remaining stake, and we remain united in that decision. We intend to move forward thoughtfully, respectfully and through the appropriate process.
We have tremendous respect for Bob Iger and Josh Kushner and believe they understand what the Lakers represent to Los Angeles and our incredibly loyal fan base. We are confident they will honor everything this franchise stands for while building upon the foundation our father created.
She’s been a cheapskate owner and made terrible hires. She’s just a nepo baby that got lucky LeBron chose the Lakers and bailed out her horrible ownership stint. Good riddance to her and the rest of em.
Aka Lame ownership group was not going to honor the agreement.
This is going to suck but all you fans who wanted the Buss Family out are going to have to find out the hard way the grass is not always greener in the other side. 🤷🏾♂️
I think Jeanie is only exhausting whatever it takes to cling to the "power" and title.
The fact that the Lakers were sold to Walter just last year proves it...
People forget after Ray Allen’s shot LeBron had a stop on Tony Parker to force OT. There was still five seconds on the clock and the Spurs had plenty of time to score. LeBron also saved himself with this stop.
Then Bosh/Allen had zero in Game 7 while he had 37. Who showed up?
he saved a globally beloved kids show from being taken off the air and gave many black artists their publishing back, yet people (yts) just saw him as a "fake friend" simply because he bought a catalog that was literally up for sale...
Free agent F Trendon Watford has agreed to a one-year, $2.9 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, sources tell ESPN. Watford considered multiple options but for New Orleans serves as a productive two-way get late into the offseason after a year in Philadelphia where he notched a 20-point, 17-rebound, 10-assist triple double in November.
Before the 2002 NBA Finals, an AP preview made the case for why New Jersey had a shot against Kobe and Shaq:
“The Nets are undervalued. The Lakers are vulnerable... Shaq is overweight and hurt, and the way to beat him is to run. The Nets will run.”
Prediction: Nets in 7.
Result: Lakers sweep 4-0.
Remember when HBO made the best basketball show of all time about the Showtime Lakers with the best casting you’ve ever seen and Adrian Brody as Pat Riley and they just fucking canceled it
This is my initial read.
This morning has only raised my suspicion that something damming about Walter is going to be revealed.
On September 18th of last year, FBI issued a search warrant and seized Walter’s laptop and phone.
The NBA approved of Walter’s purchase on October 30th.
Last month, the SEC were examining 16 billion in loans from insurance companies Walter owned when the insurers only reported about 1 billion in investments.
And now fast forward to today, he’s selling the franchise at a 12 billion valuation within a year of assuming control.
What makes me more uncomfortable is that Walter likely knew of the FBI search prior to the NBA approving his purchase.
And now we have to question what Walter disclosed to the league, and possibly if the NBA privately encouraged him to sell before something comes out.
Remember, authorities are trying to determine if insurers controlled by Walter failed to disclose billions of dollars worth of transactions and that this financing was what helped fund Walter’s investments, including his stake in the Lakers.
This reads like someone trying to cash out before his financial situation becomes complicated.
This is far too suspicious and doesn’t pass the smell test for me. The walls are closing in, and it could get ugly.
The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to American businessman Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record breaking price over $12 billion, multiple sources told ESPN.
Kushner and Iger were involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, but a stunning turn, they pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter, who had purchased a controlling interest in the team from the Buss family last year.
