Similarly, a culture that fails to uphold values of modesty, which promote trust within families, is a culture ignorant of basic biology and psychology.
Completely alleviating suffering from one’s life is a lost cause. 1) You alleviate what you can, 2) find meaning in what you can’t, 3) and suffer towards something meaningful regardless.
But everyone employing it for whichever of the myriad functions it can perform must ask themselves what that cost is and if they are okay with paying it in the long run.
