Art Deco is when it looks made by dwarves.”
And after looking into it, I think they’re a genius and 100% correct.
@SFBART any chance you can make your elevators a bit faster? The Fruitvale elevator takes over 90s one way!!! If it has to come to the entrance plaza first, then that's over 1:30 to get to the platform. The Berkeley and 19th Street elevators are just as bad.
@SFBART did you dial up the strength of your new clipper card readers to 11? In my effort to combat card clash I started adding shielding (made from the 2020s favorite hat material) to my wallet. The new readers can pick up my credit cards _around_ the tinfoil screen!!!
@SFBART can we get the card clash problem sorted out with the new clipper card readers? My wallet has a clipper card, and a credit card in it. It shouldn't be necessary to remove my clipper card before scanning it.
This is why I love being a Julia developer: the community! Julia users at @NERSC and beyond are truly a lovely bunch of people that keep finding innovative ways to use #HPC.
@SFBART are you ever going to solve the card clash problem with the new clipper card readers? This is a real pain. Especially in rush hour you don't want to have to finagle your card out of your wallet while people wait behind you
Interested in learning Julia on HPC systems? If so, check out our upcoming tutorial: https://t.co/SKNUdfjTU3 You will gain experiences on HPC systems at @OLCFGOV and @NERSC

Just got this rather dystopian ad. Who doesn't want to share 2 bathrooms with 6 other "residents"? And whenever two of your cohabitants have a disagreement about who gets the 7:30 am slot. They'll have to do it in the corridor in front of your bedroom.
@SFBART@SFBART any news in getting card clash sorted out on the new readers? It shouldn't be hard to figure out what card to use if multiple ones are detected (hint: it's the clipper card).
@SFBART I noticed your new clipper card readers don't work if the card is part of a bundle of NFC cards (e.g. in a wallet, or strapped to the back of your phone). The old readers worked fine in this setting. Will this be fixed?
@SFBART Thanks for the background. Will you be implementing a solution to card clash in the future? My problem is that taking a card out of my wallet while holding my bike in my other hand is a bit fiddly. A practical solution would be to use the clipper card by default (if present).
@glennklockwood Is the right chart total performance? Electricity is much more expensive in the EU, so that might alter priorities regarding how they run their silicon. Maybe someone who works in EU HPC can comment?
Rick is saying a lot of the quiet part out loud here.
Non-Top500 HPL scale runs were run at much smaller scale since ALCF’s focus was on breaking the 1 EF barrier
HPL-MxP was 90% of the system
Intel has “bad” product names 😬
#ISC24
Working on slides for #ISC24 today. Today I focused on my talk at the InteractiveHPC workshop; here's a sneak peak, made with the help of LLMs running on Azure GPUs, of course.
