NCAA had to put UGA-MSU or UNC-USC in that time slot. (they wanted WV v Cal Poly on ESPN2 at noon).
Because it's g1 for UGA, they were the easier choice--no rest concerns and also UNC is playing PT team

But look at which station gets the time slots. 12-3-8 ET are on ESPN2, 5:00 ET is on ESPNU.
They put what will certainly be the least watched game (Troy-Little Rock) on ESPNU. I'm sure the TV partner had a lot of input into that decision.
@Theinsiders@JMHCFBSports The other problem is that they want to get all of the weekend games on ESPN or ESPN2. If you want to show a quadruple header, you have to have a 9 pm ET time slot.
If you have a west coast super, then it's no problem. Otherwise you have to start a couple of games at 8 pm CDT.

Top 4 get double byes to the QF, 5-8 get single byes to the second round, and 9-16 play in the first round. 3-3-3-3-2-1. Still start on Tuesday, and no 9 am starts!

Most likely they will schedule 4 games on Sat (the two postponed games from today plus the 2 semifinals) leaving one game for Sun.
