付鹏将世界经济的运行机制比喻为金字塔结构，最顶层是意识形态，中间是政治，底层是市场和资产。他认为从2016年开始，全球已经开始从过去40年的左翼包容、开放、融合转向了右翼化、保守和对抗。这不仅仅表现为中美��易战，而是一场深刻的全球政治经济秩序的转变。这种转变标志着二战后形成的全球化秩序正在瓦解。

关于中国经济，付鹏指出问题早在2019年就已显现，远比表面看到的要严重得多。核心问题在于有效需求不足，从数据来看，2019年后总需求曲线持续下降，到2024年10月首次出现负值，这在22年来还是首次。这种需求不足既有周期性因素，也有结构性原因，其中最重要的是中产阶级的加速陨落。

在消费领域，付鹏观察到了明显的分化趋势。底层民众早已开始消费降级，如网约车司机只吃15块钱的盒饭。中产阶级因为裁员、降薪等因素产生恐慌，开始大幅压缩支出。这种消费能力的下降不是短期现象，而是一个结构性的转变。更重要的是，新一代年轻人的消费观念已经发生根本性改变。

对于房地产市场，付鹏认为过去20年的上涨建立在两个基础上：一是人口红利，二是杠杆的放大作用。80后这一代人能同时利用三代人的财富：上一代的积蓄、自己的工资收入、以及金融机构提供的未来信贷。但现在这个模式已经难以为继，因为年轻人的接盘能力严重不足。

付鹏特别强调了债务问题的本质。他认为"内债不是债"这种说法是错误的，任何国家的本币债务本质都是对本国居民的征税权。当人口不增长、收入增长放缓时，唯一的选择就是提高税率。这就解释了为什么近期各种新税种的讨论会出现。
