Let me personalize this. When my daughter was in the 5th grade her teacher told us she needed to do something about her ADD difficulties. The school called my wife in and a team of Administrators insisted she needed to start taking medication. My wife absolutely refused and told them if they ever brought it up again we would get a lawyer. Even that far back she realized our daughter would be branded for life as a mental case if we went along with this. Note that she really does have ADD. We had to mostly homeschool her to get her passing grades in school.

But she learned how to cope with it, went on to college, and her first job was ... teaching a classroom of ADD kids. When she decided to move on they begged her to stay saying they had never had anyone able to teach them the way she did. No surprise. She was one of them and they related to her like no one else could.

All this to say that we have gone wayyyyy to far in labeling everything a mental illness when it's mostly just people being odd. The way people are most of the time.

My girlfriend and I had a small misunderstanding because she saw a chat on my phone that led to a serious argument. In the heat of the moment, she took my phone and threw it on the floor. Out of anger, I grabbed hers and smashed it too.

Later, I realized that my phone wasn’t damaged, but hers was completely ruined. I went to fix it today, but it couldn’t be fixed. Because of that, I bought her a Samsung Galaxy S8 as a temporary replacement. However, the phone I damaged was an iPhone 14 Pro Max, so she refused to accept the Samsung.

I’ve asked her to be patient until I can afford to replace it with another iPhone, but she’s still very upset with me. What should I do?
