A Nigerian man has reportedly won a court case against his ex-girlfriend after sponsoring her education with the understanding that they would get married after graduation.
According to the case, the lady’s family allegedly agreed to the arrangement before he took full responsibility for her schooling. But after she finished, she declined marriage, saying she was no longer interested.
The court ruled that while no one can be forced into marriage, there was a clear expectation and agreement, and her decision caused financial and emotional loss to the man.
She has now been ordered to pay ₦15 million in damages.
