Goa Department of Art and Culture in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, @sangeetnatak Ministry of Culture, @MinOfCultureGoI, New Delhi will be organizing 2 dramas on July 15, 2026 as a part of Nationwide “National Theater Festival” conducted by Sangeet Natak Akademi on the occasion of Mahakavi Kalidasa Jayanti and commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram, aims to celebrate India’s cultural heritage, unity and freedom spirit through theatre across 39+ languages in all states.

The dramas that will be staged to mark the occasion are- First Drama- “Vande Mataram – Desh Raag”, written and directed by Shri Yugank Naik @yugankn , staged by – knowledge terminus and artistes collective, Ponda at Kala Academy, Panaji on July 15, 2026 at 6.30 p.m.

Second Drama- “Vande Mataram – Veer Dharam written by Shri Purshottam Mardolkar, directed by Shri Kalanand Kamat Bambolkar, staged by Antruz Ghudyo, Bandora, Ponda at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda on July 15, 2026 at 6.30 p.m.

The Department of Art and Culture invites all theatre lovers, students and the general public to witness these special presentations and be a part of this historic nationwide celebration.

I have conveyed to #KalaAcademy that I refuse to accept the prize for original play, as judges have conferred 2nd prize without awarding 1st. This defies logic or common sense. Merit has been given a go by. This sets up an ugly precedent for playwrights in #Konkani.
