True live story… A must read!
Chinedu rushed into his mother’s shop on a sunny afternoon, his eyes restless like someone searching for something beyond explanation.
“Mama, give me 500 naira, I need it urgently,” he said, stretching out his left hand toward her while his gaze wandered elsewhere. His left foot tapped impatiently against the floor.
“Has something come over you, Chinedu?” his mother asked, puzzled. “You storm into my shop this hot afternoon without even greeting me. Did your ancestors leave any money with me that you’re now demanding?” she added sharply.
Already agitated, Chinedu glanced around with bloodshot eyes like someone under the influence of something dangerous. Without hesitation, he grabbed his mother’s purse, the one holding her daily sales, and moved toward the entrance.
Mama Chinedu froze for a second, unable to believe what she was seeing. Then she sprang up from her seat and ran after him, grabbing the back of his shirt in an attempt to stop him.
But Chinedu had other plans. Hearing her closing in, he reached into his right pocket and pulled out what looked like a short aluminium rod. In one swift motion, he swung it toward her.
It struck her left eye.
Blood burst out like a broken pipe.
“Chineke moooo… my eye! I can’t see anything again, Chinedu has killed me ooo!” she screamed at the top of her voice, collapsing onto the packs of Bigi Cola stacked at the shop entrance.
