Huge congrats to Tao Okamoto on winning Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival — such an incredible achievement.
It really inspires me to see more and more directors and actors succeeding beyond the label of simply being “Japanese” and working on a truly global level.
I went to Cannes last year, and it was such an inspiring experience filled with exciting encounters and creative energy. I really wanted to go again this year, but… school events and mom duties came first.
Balancing work and motherhood is something I navigate every day, but when I look at how strong and independent my son is becoming, I realize this season of life — where he still truly needs his mom — is actually very short and incredibly precious.
Still… next year, I want to go back to Cannes with a project of my own.

Zootopia 2 was really well-crafted. The screenplay is tight and clever, and the pacing keeps you engaged the whole time. The ending was a bit on the preachy side, but that’s understandable—they really wanted the theme to land clearly.
