I typically try to exclusively discuss security research on Twitter and especially refrain from discussing politics. But I will not stay indifferent to this situation.
I live in Israel, and in the last week, my country has been forced into a blood-soaked war.
On October 7th, thousands of bloodthirsty, armed terrorists of Hamas (along with some Gaza residents as well) have infiltrated Israel's borders with one goal in mind: to brutally kill as many people as possible. Innocent children, women, men, the elderly, Christians, Jews, Muslims, soldiers, civilians, tourists - no one has been spared. The current numbers are 1,300 murdered, thousands injured, and hundreds held captive.
I'll spare the gruesome images regarding the inhumane actions these "freedom fighters" have, with careful intent and prior planning, committed against innocent civilians. If you're interested, you can find them online as they're being displayed as symbols of victory by Hamas. Atrocities such as rape, desecration of corpses, beheading, and other ISIS-like horrors.
I am deeply saddened by the suffering unjustly imposed upon innocent civilians in this tragedy. From the bottom of my heart, I truly wish that only those directly responsible for this massacre would face the repercussions they deserve. I am also frustrated by the fact that, due to the sheer number of incidents and the seemingly civil nature of the situation, Palestinians who took advantage of the opportunity to plunder, murder, and commit rape will most likely continue with their lives as if nothing happened and, at some point, would even play the "poor Palestinian" card.
I'm very grateful for the support and kindness I've received in private messages in these past few days. However, it would be far from the truth to say that I, or anyone living in Israel for that matter, is okay. Every person in Israel knows someone who was involved in this tragedy. An entire country, millions of citizens living in terror in every sense of the word.
If you want to free Palestine, free it from Hamas.

I hope that this will be my last political tweet, and once this crisis is over, we can return to exclusively discussing security research.
