The reason Western, Rwandan and African detractors of President Kagame keep failing over and over, is that they try to fit him into one small narrative or the other (almost always false).

The man is extremely very broad in his thinking and positive actions. No one can succeed in pigeonholing him into one narrative.

It's like trying to move Karisimbi with a shovel. The rangers and its other inhabitants will catch you before you even move an centimeter.

No drama Rwanda

Every once in a while it strikes me what a blessing we have that we live a “no drama” life in Rwanda. I mean, not very long ago a certain president of this region was promising fire and Armageddon upon us, that would be launched from just across the border in one of his country’s border cities.

The gentleman was bragging he didn’t even need his troops to move anywhere, to be able to wipe Kigali off the map. This was bloodthirsty sabre rattling of the highest order. And the man meant it. He very clearly was thirsting for Rwandan blood.

He had never made a secret of it. In his country’s media he often made belligerent pronouncements of intentions of war on Rwanda.

But, interestingly, Rwandans weren’t in any way concerned. Whatever the threat this big president of this neighboring country supposedly posed, we weren’t bothered in the least. Why? The answer lies in the confidence that the RDF has instilled in the over thirty years it has maintained the security and safety of this country. Even more so, it is the confidence we have in President Kagame; the ultra-competent Commander in Chief of the armed forces.

And so it happened, again, that the big threats from the neighboring guy never amounted to anything. They were neutralized, at source. All with no drama, chez nous (as the French would put it). No drama of exploding bombs and destruction in the Rwandan capital, as the belligerent had wished.

Obviously the failures of those in the habit of declaring wars on us also happen because of the nature of their animosity. It is totally unjust, and based on totally false, made up grounds. (What did we ever do, except request them to respect our right to exist (even as we yearned to just peacefully co-exist?), and to not harbor genocidal forces sworn to annihilate us?

Anyway, now there is another much smaller state; one however allied to the first, more prominent antagonist, that’s now taken up the habit of issuing threats of war against Rwanda. They want to export chaos here (maybe on the instructions of their ally, who already has suffered memorable defeats). They are thirsting for the drama of violence, and destruction in Kigali.

They might want to study up on history, including some very recent history, and learn that kind of venture is a losing one.

Anyway, we are hardly trembling.
