More than 750 earthquakes have been detected beneath Tenerife overnight in the latest seismic swarm, with some occurring every 30 seconds to a minute.
The earthquakes are very small, around 10 to 15km deep beneath the Teide area, and none have been felt by residents.
Scientists say this does not mean an eruption is imminent. Similar swarms have been recorded several times since February, and they say there are currently no signs of magma rising towards the surface.
Tenerife is an active volcanic island, so earthquake swarms like this can happen, but experts are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
