Senator Natasha Takes Suspension, Case Against Akpabio to Global Stage

Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has taken her case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio to the global stage, addressing the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the United Nations in New York.

Speaking at the Women in Parliament Session, she described her suspension as “illegal” and linked it to her petition against Akpabio over alleged harassment. Overcome with emotion during her speech, she called for justice and urged international democratic institutions to intervene.

After her address, Natasha expressed concerns for her safety, alleging that powerful figures in Nigeria might attempt to detain her in New York for speaking out. She also highlighted the broader challenges women face in Nigerian politics.
