Why I love my job:
Customer came in for vacation reads. I gave her a couple of my favorites that are crowd pleasers.
As she was paying: "where are you traveling?"
"Spain"
Literally had her rip her card out of the machine before the payment completed:

I'm an author and I'll be the first to tell you... if a book sucks, stop reading it.
The best readers actually quit a lot of books. Life is too short to read books you don’t enjoy reading.

For fans of Lessons in Chemistry by @BonnieGarmus, I highly recommend Amazing Grace Adams by @_franlittlewood. Both have vividly drawn female protagonists that refuse to be cowed by the world around them.

Also, Pride & Prejudice, The Great Gatsby and others...
Just finished my DRC of Into the Bright Open: A Secret Garden Remix by Cherie Dimaline, out Sep 5th.

Today's @BuzzBooksPL excerpt is from The Spirit Glass by Roshani Chokshi, out September 5th from Disney/Rick Riordan Presents.
