The Missing Middle

Look at the shape of it. Two of the most prominent men alive at the top. Tens of thousands of ordinary readers at the base. And between them – almost no one reposting those texts of mine. A complete void where a society’s connective tissue is supposed to be.

That shape is the diagnosis. A healthy civilization has a middle: editors, professors, ministers, mayors, entrepreneurs, priests, columnists, heads of institutions – thousands of people with names, standing, and something to lose, who say what they think out loud. That layer is what carries an idea from the top of a society into its ordinary life. Take it away and nothing moves. The two men at the top can amplify an argument to millions and it still won’t reach a single classroom, ministry, or editorial board, because there’s no one in between willing to carry it the last mile.

Why is the middle empty? Because the middle is precisely where the système has leverage. Musk and Milei can’t be removed by the people they contradict. The reader with 200 followers is too small to be worth removing. But everyone in between – the associate professor, the deputy editor, the mid-sized business owner, the local politician – is exactly the person who can be punished cheaply and effectively. One phone call. One HR complaint. One withdrawn contract. So the middle went quiet, and then went into internal emigration, and now stands empty.

This is what the long march actually produced. Not a population that believes things – a population that has learned which sentences cost money. The captured institutions don’t need to convince the middle of anything. They just need to keep the price high enough that the middle stays silent, and let the silence look like consensus.

And notice what the void does to both ends. It leaves the top isolated – a handful of men carrying an entire civilizational argument on their own reach, which is exactly the concentration of risk I keep writing about. And it leaves the base atomized – tens of thousands of people who each believe they are alone, because the only people confirming their view are two billionaires on another continent.

So the void is the task. Not another platform, not another argument – the middle itself: people with names and positions who say true things at a survivable cost, publicly, in their own countries, in their own fields. Every one of them makes the next one cheaper. That’s the whole mechanism of the counter-march, and it’s why the counter-march is a staffing problem rather than a persuasion problem.

The top is filled. The base is enormous and growing. What’s missing is the layer that turns an argument into a country.

Fill the middle. That’s the job – and unlike almost everything else in this fight, it doesn’t require permission, funding, or genius. It requires a few thousand people deciding, one at a time, that the price of speaking is lower than the price of the silence they’ve been keeping.

Grynkewich ist Supreme Allied Commander Europe (Saceur) und damit der höchste militärische Befehlshaber der Nato in Europa. Zugleich führt er das US European Command. Seine Einschätzung hat besonderes Gewicht, weil sie von jenem Offizier stammt, der für die militärische Abschreckung des Bündnisses gegenüber Russland verantwortlich ist.

Altiero Spinelli – The Man Who Designed the EU in Prison.

Not a metaphor. Literally. The blueprint for the European Union — its founding logic, its institutional architecture, its explicit goal of dissolving national sovereignty permanently — was written in 1941, on a tiny island off the coast of Naples, where Mussolini had imprisoned him.
The Ventotene Manifesto. Still cited. Still operative. Still running.

1. Spinelli had been a communist since seventeen – and was eventually expelled from the Communist Party for left-wing deviation. Too radical for the communists. Which tells you something about the man. In his prison years he reached the conclusion that the nation-state was the root cause of war, fascism, and every political catastrophe of the century. It had to go. Not reformed. Not constrained. Abolished – permanently, irreversibly, through the construction of a supranational federal authority with supreme power over member states.

2. The Ventotene Manifesto was written in 1941 on paper smuggled into the prison in cigarette packets. Its argument was simple and total: nation-states must be replaced by a federal European government. The economic integration would come first – because economic interdependence would make political separation prohibitively costly. Then the institutions. Then the law. Then the currency. Each step irreversible by design. The nation-state dissolved not by force but by process – incrementally, bureaucratically, until the point of no return had been passed without anyone noticing when.

3. This is the architecture of the European Union. Not a conspiracy theory – the founding document. Spinelli served as a member of the European Parliament and drafted the 1984 Spinelli Report – the direct precursor to the Maastricht Treaty. Today the European Parliament sits in the Spinelli Building in Brussels. The Spinelli Group inside it advances his program explicitly, in his name, without apology. The man who wrote the blueprint in a prison cell in 1941 is the acknowledged intellectual father of the institution that governs 450 million people. This is not hidden. It is simply not taught.

4. The mechanism was specifically intended to be irreversible. Each treaty expands competence and makes contraction impossible. The Commission is unelected and insulated from democratic pressure to reverse course. Spinelli understood, from his Marxist formation, that the correct way to make a revolutionary change permanent is to make the cost of reversing it higher than the cost of accepting it. Brexit took fifty years of membership to become possible – and was still nearly impossible to execute.

5. Poland is the most precise illustration. A nation that disappeared from the map for a century and fought back through language, family, and refusal to be absorbed – now a member of an institution designed to make national sovereignty obsolete. The Brussels directive that overrides the Polish parliament is Spinelli’s program, running as designed. The Poland that survived partition by Prussia, Russia, and Austria is now navigating a project designed to produce the same outcome through consent rather than conquest. Spinelli would have considered this progress.

6. He died in 1986, before Maastricht, before the euro, before the completed project. Like Gramsci, he did not need to see it. The manifesto written on cigarette-packet paper on a prison island became the founding document of the most powerful supranational institution in history – one that 450 million people live inside without knowing who designed it, when, where, or why.

7. Now you know. The question worth asking is not whether the EU is good or bad. It is whether you would have consented to Spinelli’s program if asked directly – whether you wanted the nation-state abolished permanently by incremental bureaucratic process, designed from the start to be irreversible. Nobody was asked. That too was part of the design.

You sat through weeks of evidence about Cora, Dawson, and Callan—three children who were strangled in their own home.

You then spent days in deliberations with eleven other people who wanted to walk away without holding their killer criminally responsible. You did not join them. You held the line. That took more courage than most people will ever have to show.

The pressure you faced was obvious from the outside. Nine of the twelve jurors were women. The defense and much of the commentary around the case treated postpartum as an automatic get-out-of-accountability card.

When the split became public, the lawyer for the woman who killed those children went after you personally and tried to have you removed. You still would not vote to acquit. That is not stubbornness. That is a man who looked at three dead children and refused to pretend the law required him to look away.

You were one vote standing between a unanimous finding of “not criminally responsible” and a hung jury. You chose the hung jury. You chose not to cave. In a room that had already decided the outcome, you chose the children over the narrative. That is rare. It is also why I am proud of you.

You are a hero to people who still believe that strangling a five-year-old, a three-year-old, and an eight-month-old baby is a crime that requires an answer, not an excuse. Thank you for standing there when it would have been easier to fold.

Bo to nie jest kwestia tego, że nie widzą. Widzą doskonale. Ci ludzie mają zespoły od monitoringu mediów, a znaczący ideowy repost od Muska to nie jest coś, co umyka. O nie…
Gramsci, Spinelli, długi marsz przez instytucje, systemowe kłamstwo – to nie są dla nich abstrakcje. To jest powietrze, którym oddychają. Woda, w której pływają. System, który ich wyprodukował, który ich wybrał, który im dał ich pozycje.

Nie milczą z ignorancji. Milczą z interesu.

To jest właśnie to, o czym piszę od miesięcy. Rotacja elit jeszcze się w Europie nie dokonała. Stare elity trzymają się mocno – instytucje, media, nagrody, finansowanie, cały aparat Gramsciego pracuje pełną parą. Musk i Milei wyrwali się z tego systemu lub nigdy do niego nie należeli. Europejscy politycy są jego produktem.

Dlatego cisza w Europie nie jest zaskakująca. Jest informacją.

Mówi nam dokładnie to, co powinniśmy wiedzieć o tych ludziach: że rozumieją co piszemy, że wiedzą iż mamy rację – i że właśnie dlatego nie powiedzą o tym ani słowa.

Zakłamanie nie jest brakiem wiedzy. Jest wiedzą połączoną z wyborem milczenia.

I to świadczy o czymś bardzo brzydkim: o kalkulacji. Zgodzić się publicznie z tekstem o Gramscim nic nie daje, a kosztować może wszystko – zaproszenia, stanowiska, przychylność redakcji, spokój. Milczenie jest darmowe. To dokładnie ta premia za obłudę, którą opisuję od miesięcy – tylko tym razem widoczna na naszym własnym przykładzie.

I to jest właśnie test, o którym pisałem przy okazji nawigatorów. Musk i Milei mają jedną wspólną cechę: nie muszą pytać salonu o zdanie. Reszta musi – i dlatego reszta milczy. Nie brakuje im inteligencji. Brakuje im niezależności, a bez niej odwaga jest technicznie niemożliwa.

Co nam to jeszcze mówi o europejskich elitach?
Klasa, która nie potrafi publicznie przyznać racji tekstowi, z którym prywatnie pewnie się zgadza, nie jest elitą – jest układem. Elita mówi. Układ czeka, aż będzie bezpiecznie.

A w Polsce? W Polsce to jeszcze prostsze. Uznanie z zagranicy dla kogoś spoza układu jest problemem, nie powodem do dumy – bo podważa hierarchię, w której to oni rozdają uznanie.

Ale jest w tym dobra wiadomość, i to poważna. Dziesiątki tysięcy anonimowych ludzi i dwóch najbardziej wpływowych wolnościowców świata – to jest właśnie drugi obieg. Tak on zawsze wyglądał: bez oficjalnych nazwisk, bez błogosławieństwa salonu, za to z czytelnikami, których nikt nie musiał zapraszać.

Kiedyś przyjdą i oni. Zawsze przychodzą – dokładnie w momencie, w którym zgoda przestaje kosztować…

I wtedy będziemy pamiętać, kto był wcześniej.

Now that Shabbat has ended, I saw your post and the alerts across the news channels about your visit today to Turmus Ayya — and about those “dangerous and threatening settlers” whom you apparently saw driving a security Ranger.

*Well, that was me. I was the driver of the Ranger you filmed.*

And I want you to hear directly from me what actually happened today.

This morning, our shepherd, who was out with the flock, reported that dozens of vehicles had gathered at the edge of the village — precisely in an area from which, over the past several months, there have been repeated attacks and arson incidents against us.

I got into our security Ranger to check what was happening, and at the same time we notified the IDF as per protocol.

When we arrived and saw respectable people and media crews, we said hello and continued on our way. Shortly afterward, the army informed us that this was a proper, coordinated visit.

That is the entire story.

And yet, within minutes, we were portrayed in the media as “dangerous settlers.”

Amabssador Huckabee, I will respectfully relate some facts to you that they surely didn’t share with you today.

For example:

1. Until recently, the head of the Turmus Ayya municipality was *Lafi Shalabi*, who was a partner in assisting in the murder of the youth Yehuda Guetta, of blessed memory. While he was in prison, the village chose him to head the municipality — as a sign of honor for his actions.

2. A member of the Turmus Ayya municipal council, *Abu Samra*, with whom you were photographed today in warm handshakes, is a released terrorist, who is photographed with weapons and published incitement to murder and attacks; in his view, Jews as well as Americans are the enemy. He also led the opposition in the village to the hanging of American flags on the houses, and following the struggle, the flags were removed from the Turmus Ayya municipal building. Only in recent years, Abu Samra was personally involved in several cases of attacks and looting of Jews and their property in the Shiloh area settlements.

3. Throughout the village there are dozens of monuments glorifying terrorists and terrorism, alongside a map of the State of Israel painted in the colors of Palestine, which testifies to their true intentions.

4. *Abla al-Kuk*, the manager of the girls’ high school who was photographed with you today, has for years been involved in educating generations of students with messages of incitement, encouragement and glorification of terrorism. She also personally participated in and led violent riots against settlers and security forces.

5. In the past year alone, hundreds of incidents of attacks have occurred, including stone throwing, arson, lynchings and shooting, by Arabs from the village against shepherds, farmers, innocent Jewish travelers who had just returned home, as well as against army forces.

6. You also met with the wife of the “martyr” *Omar al-Katin*, who was killed after attempting to harm police officers, and with additional representatives of families of those who attempted to harm soldiers and innocent civilians.

7. We also saw how the ambulance drivers in Turmus Ayya showed you videos that were edited and cut in a biased manner. In the incident in question, the ambulance deliberately blocked an army jeep while hundreds of Arabs pelted it with stones. When the soldiers had no choice and were forced to get out of the area in order to protect their lives, they lightly struck the edge of the ambulance in order to extricate themselves. They also did not tell you that the entire incident was an attempt to run toward the Israeli communities. You also saw videos presented to you today by ambulance drivers from the village. I ask you to watch the full footage, rather than edited clips.

When you cut out the beginning of an incident, you can make almost any story look completely different.

After Oct. 7, I went through all the stages of grief and anger, and then thought about what I could actually do. I’ve been an editor for 40 years, in journalism and in book publishing, so the answer seemed obvious: I decided to focus my editing business primarily on Jewish authors.

That decision put me in a front-row seat for something I wasn’t expecting. My clients would finish their manuscripts — books they’d worked on for years — and they’d ask me, “What’s next? Where do I send this?” And I had nothing to tell them. Because the answer, increasingly, was: nowhere.

The phrase I kept hearing was “now is not the time.” Or, “there’s no market for Jewish authors right now.” That’s what agents and publishers are telling us. It’s that blatant. And of course, there’s no way to prove a negative, so what’s not counted are the unreturned phone calls and the radio silence. Agents quietly dropping clients. Publishing is a rough business anyway, whether you’re Jewish or not, but the silences add up. I’ve also heard from authors who were asked directly to take the Jewish or Israeli content out of their own books. Is it antisemitism? Maybe. But I think it’s largely cowardice and fear.

I learned some of this firsthand. When I was shopping my own novel around, looking for an agent and a publisher, I kept reading the same thing on their websites: We welcome marginalized voices, we seek out underrepresented perspectives. It didn’t take me long to learn that they did not mean Jews.

There’s a perception out there that Jews are overrepresented in publishing. I’m not sure that was ever really true, but now it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy: Jewish writers can’t find agents and publishers because of the perception that they are overrepresented. Today, that’s simply not the case. Go into your local bookstore and try to find a book that doesn’t repeat the genocide and apartheid libels against Israel. Books that tell another story are simply not displayed anymore.

I’ll put it this way: If Philip Roth or Saul Bellow were starting out today, shopping a manuscript full of unapologetically Jewish life, they’d be rejected. Not because the writing wasn’t brilliant. Because now is not the time.
For three years, I wrote about the marginalization of Jewish voices. I was one of the first to document what was happening. And everywhere I went, authors thanked me for it. They’d come up after panels, they’d write to me — every day, someone grateful that at least somebody was paying attention. But in the back of my mind, I kept thinking: I haven’t actually done anything. I’ve just pointed out the problem. These writers didn’t need another article about why they couldn’t get published. They needed a publisher.

So, I decided to become one.

Here’s what made that possible — and it’s the part of this story that should give everyone hope. While all those doors were closing, something remarkable was happening inside the Jewish literary world itself. Nobody planned it. With nowhere else to go, Jewish writers and readers started building their own places. The community self-assembled, naturally, after Oct. 7 — book clubs, Substacks, newsletters, whole communities of readers finding each other. Leaders emerged, like Elissa Wald, who runs the Never Alone Book Club and Judith Magazine — publications and gathering places that simply didn’t exist two years ago. Writers needed to know who they could trust: which editors, which designers, which marketers would actually work with a Jewish book and stand behind it. Along the way, I tapped into that network.

When I announced this project, I was inundated. Within days, writers, editors, designers, publicists, and agents told me they wanted to be part of it. They weren’t asking what was in it for them. Just: How can I help? I immediately began collecting names, and I now have a roster of top professionals ready to work on these books. Nobody was recruited. They came. That tells you the need is real. And it tells you this isn’t me starting a company. This is a movement that needed a publisher.

That publisher is Canary Publishing, which we launched this month before an online audience of 500 people. We’re a home for authentic Jewish voices — a real publisher, offering advances and royalties, publishing adult fiction and nonfiction by Jewish, Israeli, and Zionist writers.

Die im Zusammenhang mit sogenannten "Grooming Gangs" in Nürnberg gegründete Ermittlungskommission "EKO Kajal" konnte erneut drei Tatverdächtige festnehmen.

Am vergangenen Montag meldete sich ein 14-jähriges Mädchen bei der Polizei und gab an, dass sie gerade von zwei Männern in einem Park vergewaltigt worden sei. Das Mädchen sollte für den Erhalt einer Vape sexuelle Handlungen an den Männern vornehmen und wurde dann von den Männern vergewaltigt. Die Tat geschah am Nachmittag im öffentlichen Raum. Das Mädchen erlitt dabei Verletzungen, die medizinisch versorgt werden mussten.
Am selben Tag konnte die Polizei zwei Tatverdächtige festnehmen. Es handelt sich um zwei Syrer, 16 und 18 Jahre alt.

Bereits am Dienstag, 18. August wurde ein 29-jähriger Tatverdächtiger palästinensischer Herkunft festgenommen, gegen den die EKO Kajal bereits ermittelt hatte. Als dieser auf einem E-Scooter fuhr und von der Polizei kontrolliert werden sollte, flüchtete dieser und sprang dabei von der Stadtmauer in den Stadtgraben und zog sich dadurch mehrere Knochenbrüche zu. Er wird verdächtigt, mehrfach an Minderjährige Drogen verkauft zu haben.

Damit konnte die EKO Kajal in den letzten Wochen insgesamt 18 Tatverdächtige festnehmen. Unter den Festgenommenen sind u.a. Syrer, Iraker und Pakistaner aber kein deutscher Staatsangehöriger.

This is about as damning as it gets.

I really hope this is shared widely so that everybody can clearly understand just how much the world has been played by this entire fake Palestinian sob story.

Listen carefully to what they’re all saying. The Palestinian cause is simply the means to destroy the west, to destroy capitalism, and the it is used “to annihilate the indigenous people of the land, which is the same for America and Australia and the world”.

They admit that they are NOT the indigenous people of the land.

They openly state and admit that they are coming to wipe out all nonbelievers. Because judgement day cannot come until Islam rules the entire world.

A major war for the survival of all non Muslims is coming whether you like it or not, because Islam by its own admission has waged jihad in everyone.

Dear Brits,

You got offended by my comment about the Falkland Islands—a bunch of rocks 8,000 miles from your shores? Good. Now imagine how we Israelis feel about your government’s recognition of “Palestine” over our ancestral heartland of Judea and Samaria, its denial of our sovereignty over our capital, Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights, and its constant meddling in our internal affairs and bashing of our country.

These lands are in the heart of our country, which is already roughly the size of Wales—not lands 8,000 miles from our shores.

Your government criticizes our country’s response to October 7 in Gaza, while it is clear that if your country had been invaded by a terrorist group that killed, raped, tortured, and kidnapped thousands of Brits, while firing thousands of rockets at your cities—as we experienced on October 7—your response would have been much harsher.

Britain flattened Germany during World War II, killing millions of German civilians. The casualties caused by British forces in Afghanistan and Iraq were also much higher than those in Gaza, despite the fact that neither of those countries had attacked Britain or posed a direct threat to Britain.

Since the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust on October 7, we have experienced nothing but hostility, antisemitism, and blood libels from your government.

An alliance goes both ways.
