Apple will make a m5 pro, m5 max and maybe a m5 ultra chip. Then they will go to m6. That’s how the world works. You make better and better products even if the one before is more than adequate for the task.

Not to be too technical but AI5 will run at a peak of 800w. Also my old iPhone X was more than capable to call people and search the internet. Why would I want to upgrade to a new phone with 10x the performance?

Same thing for AI5, it future proofs autonomy. Yea AI4 will be unsupervised but wouldn’t you want better performance? I feel like if you thought about it for more than 0.5 seconds you could have answered your own question.

And AI4 is not “more than adequate” for Optimus. They need more powerful chips. That’s why Tesla is planning on build a chip fab.

And if you are finally admitting Optimus will use AI5 then what was the point of your original post? Tesla is making a chip fab to produce these chips. I said they were going to be used for Optimus. And you argued with me for no reason.

Let’s straighten this out. You quote a post about Tesla making their chip fab that will allow them to make lots of new powerful chips.

You ask why. Why would Tesla need more powerful chips if AI4 can achieve unsupervised FSD? The answer is simple. Because Optimus will need more powerful chips. Who cares if it’s not 1000w. The point is it will be AI5, AI6, ect. Elon said in the shareholder meeting “In order to have a functional robot, you have to have a great AI chip. He also said that in reference to AI5.
