As the world's elite gather in Davos to discuss climate breakdown, it's worth remembering who's responsible for this crisis: "The richest 1% may emit 30 times more than the poorest 50%, and 175 times more than the poorest 10%" (Oxfam, 2015).
"Capitalism will always be racist and sexist, because it has to mystify its core contradiction - the promise of prosperity vs the reality of widespread poverty - by denigrating the 'nature' of those it exploits: colonial subjects, women and the dispossessed."
-Silvia Federici

When deniers try to kick the can down the road on climate, they often cite disingenuous concerns about the economy. But not taking urgent action is the *real* threat to our financial future.

"The climate emergency should spur us to make changes to achieve a development model that respects the ecological limits of the planet and ensures a dignified life for all."

"Certainly, the global ecological crisis and, in particular, the climate crisis, are largely due to the excessive consumption of rich countries and, above all, the most privileged social groups."

Wow. Barcelona has declared a climate emergency that gets straight to the point: "The current economic model is based on endless growth, consumption & a permanent race for profit. This economic system threatens the ecological balance of our planet & has multiplied inequalities."
