Well, ... not that anyone is likely to notice, but ... I think it's time for me to leave. I generally don't have a ton of good feelings about companies on the stock market ... but for a social site, I think one that has private, oblique ownership is worse.
Stay safe out there.
This is very very important to know -- in about a week, seeing a blue check mark might no longer mean that twitter knows anything about that person's actual identity.
So a "Verified" badge could only mean "We at Twitter have 'verified' that this person can pay us money".
We saw internal docs with more insight into the new Twitter Blue:
-Launch on Nov. 7 but only in current markets (US, CA, Aus, NZ)
-Check marks for subscribers, no current ID authentication
-Some features announced by Musk won't be ready
-Euro launch soon

Portlanders think they live in a violent crime-ridden hellhole because the media tells them they do. We don't even make the top 100 most violent cities. Chicago isn't even in the top 10, but you know how it is, narrative floods facts.
Brazil's election aftermath took a worrisome new twist today.
Bolsonaro's supporters took to the streets in more than 75 cities, demanding the military take control of the government and prevent the transfer of power.

Proud of this and always will be.
My workers are union, make a living wage, have full healthcare, and aren’t subject to racist treatment in their workplaces. Items are made in USA.
Team AOC honors and respects working people. You should try it sometime instead of union-busting.
right now that's all being handled by the third party ecosystem but bringing it in house would provide true profit potentially, i would regularly being buy 10,000 account bot nets to perform cultural experimets on people
really weird how there are literally zero instances in the news of kids actually getting fentanyl-laced halloween candy. gosh do you think maybe it was just some bullshit made-up story
@lexfridman@benshapiro Hi Lex. Please ask Ben this question when you interview him. The Economist did not broach the subject in 2019 despite widespread public interest. Thanks for your time.
Halloween PSA! Criterion Channel has an excellent curation of 80’s Horror movies. Rewatching Prince of Darkness for the first time in some 30 years - much more interesting and weirdly prescient than I remember!

ICYMI: Same day a radicalized man, who amplified conspiracies & hate-filled posts thru social media, bludgeoned the skull of Paul Pelosi with a hammer…@elonmusk bought Twitter & is considering reinstating some banned for amplifying conspiracies & promoting hate-fueled violence.
Only the Washington Post, as far as I've seen, made any attempt to connect the Pelosi assassination attempt to January 6th. The assailant shouted the exact same thing insurrectionists were yelling at Pelosi.
A Washington city's dress code ordinance saying bikini baristas must cover their bodies at work has been ruled unconstitutional by a federal court. https://t.co/PhmKcgQI8e
That's a huge cop-out. The fact is, shootings in NYC have been basically flat for 2 years, but mentions of shootings in local news spiked from 100/mo in Jan 2021 to over 800/mo now.
You cannot look at this chart and tell me that didn't influence public perception of safety.
