12 years ago, I made a free, ad supported Android app. It brought me maybe $150 in 3 years, so I let it die in 2015.
It now runs on thousands of advertising screens across the US (in grocery stores, gas stations, malls etc.)
Hosting the indie hacker's meetup #10 this evening with 10+ other like-minded people where we showcase our apps, what marketing tactics we tried, what worked & what didn't.
I didn't think this meetup will pick up eversince I started doing it in Jan this year. But here we are, close to hitting 10 gatherings and it's one of the most fulfilling and supportive community I've been a part of. Super grateful to all the people that showed up, presented their journeys, apps, and shared their learnings with us! ❤️
We also have a WhatsApp group that grew over time and we're now 54 members there where we share our wins, ask for feedback, and what news break. It's not much, but for a city like Timisoara, I think it's a great signal that entrepreneurship is starting to pick-up steam and it's super exciting to be part of this new wave.
Here's to many more great meetups and let all your MRR go brrrrrr 🥂🚀
I built a registry of design systems for AI
AI likes markdown and natural language, so the new format for the design systems is a collection of markdown files such as:
brand.md
buttons.md
typography.md
cards.md
... you get the idea
The steps are pretty simple, you can import:
1. One of our predefined design skills as themes
2. Bring your own SKILL files in a ZIP
3. Import via Figma (this is still in beta preview)
Then our algorithm will select the best token and variable candidates for each markdown file
You then get a draft proposition for the markdown files which you can review, change, add, or remove from them
After you hit publish, this design system will be available to all of your AI tools like Codex, Claude, Cursor, Grok Build, and others through our MCP server
Then all you need to do is just write the AI:
> Hey AI, what design systems do I have?
> Okay, let's install that one.
> Build me a landing page.
> Give me three more pricing variations.
> Actually, let's also explore more hero sections.
... and so on
Our MCP server not only brings together the design system for your projects, but we also have a proprietary database of layout and UI resources and prompts that will automatically suggest the best pages, sections, and element positionings
The tool is called:
TypeUI
Hosted Indie TM #9 in Timisoara on Wednesday. 9 other indie hackers showed up to demo their projects and get roasted by the room.
I've showcased my RCA insurance flow from https://t.co/fUJpodx1AG that's overcomplicated due to industry regulation.
@zawasp showed https://t.co/6vabhaeQ3X, a property management tool for landlords that auto-fills Romanian tax forms.
@dorutu_ demoed https://t.co/34uXZJQAwu, a dental booking platform that ran straight into GDPR constraints when storing patient data.
Valentin showed https://t.co/aT1aeLH3y1 deliverability tool.
Petru brought photorealistic 3D property tours.
Ionut closed with a synth he sells as a one-person studio: https://t.co/fgn122S5Eg
Then we spent an hour debating BYOK (bring your own key) for AI tools. Everyone in the room building with AI has hit this problem.

Just sent out the Calm Companies newsletter #17 with 157 job openings to my subscribers.
Over the past week I've added 10 more companies to the list I'm monitoring, reaching now a total of 61 calm companies.
So if you're tired of working at a company that burns people out, check out https://t.co/PDwfy8oRpt
I revamped my company's website using https://t.co/NJVqQwZLSb in 10 minutes.
I downloaded the design skill I liked, fired up Cursor with Gemini 3.1 Pro and there it is: https://t.co/LzOrQMi4lj
Thank you for this amazing tool, @zoltanszogyenyi!
stop blaming the model
your AI coding setup has no CLAUDE.md, no feedback loop, no scriptable workflows, no boundaries
that's like hiring a senior engineer and not telling them about the project

We built a local Indie community.
It all started with a beer in December.
We're now 31 people in our group, growing each day.
Getting ready for our 6th in person meet up next week.
We're gathering every advice and personal experience at https://t.co/38rZREPfCc. Fully open source at https://t.co/E0EZnnhNqf
We just launched indie.md, an open knowledge base of real indie hacker case studies with extractable advice.
No generic "10 tips to grow your SaaS" lists. Every piece of advice is pulled directly from a real builder's journey: how @zawasp turned a weekend fax project into micro-SaaS, how I built a $5/year anti-hustle job board, and how @vtemian grew an AI video API by abandoning traditional marketing.
29 lessons across SEO, product, distribution, business, and mindset. All open source. Big shoutout to @vtemian for putting this together 🙌

Got only this one blurry image from last night, but man, what an awesome meetup!
Think it was the best one so far. The format was a bit different than our usual 1-2 presenters showcasing their indie journey.
This time we went around the table, put the timer to 7 minutes, and we roasted projects one by one. Got to a total of 7 projects before we stopped and went out for a beer.
This was probably the most concentrated SEO live crash course I was a part of. Super insightful! Ton of stuff I need to apply to my apps in order to make them grow.
As always, thanks to everybody for coming and engaging ❤️ We'll see you again in 2 weeks for Indie TM #6 🙌
