So many conversations about the most powerful learning environment for player development. Are we taking into account children’s basic needs to have fun, belong, and learn ? #DontRetireKid
Ask kids what they want. @KobeBryant: “The most important thing is establishing an element of fun and imagination.” #DontRetireKid https://t.co/hQtCA1I9hE

Muy bien! I met Mario vi LinkedIn several years ago as he reached out. After 20 years in the military, he was getting into coaching then & has been working his way through education @ experiences for the past few years; he’s now paying it forward as a @ussoccer_coach educator.
11V11 Curso Base de Entrenadores - Presencial (11V11 Grassroots Coaching License - In person)
It was a great experience facilitating/teach this course in my first language, great conversations

“Soccer was the only team sport with a significant increase among kids 6-12 coming out of the pandemic.”
1. Why do we think that is?
2. What are we going to do to keep them in the game?

@buckleytim18 The same people that don’t show up are probably the same people that complain about not getting into a P5 Conference. Cal had one thing right about the “miserables”.
@Sports_Biz_Prof@bhmlegion Several other players with Alabama ties in the national team mix this year. Chris Richards with the MNT, Tanner Tessman w the U23s, Tega Ikoba w the PanAm team, Jamir Johnson (born in Huntsville) w the U15 CONCACAF Championship team (I was part of the Technical Staff).
I’m far from perfect & I’ve made many mistakes but I’ve also worked hard to learn from them. I’m sharing so you don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made & put the license above learning & yourself above the students. No one is bigger than the badge and the language we use matters.
Saturday morning PSA for Coach Educators-
You do not “teach” a “license.”
You facilitate learning through a course experience where the end result (hopefully) is the learner receiving a license that recognizes competency.
As a coach, one thing you never want to be is a player’s last coach because you made them quit. It’s the same as a coach educator- you don’t want to be someone’s last educator because you turned them off from education.
Not everyone is going to share your vision. Not everyone is going to believe what you believe. That's okay. Your positive energy must be greater than their negativity.
@TomFarrey With some minor adaptation, they could still be applied in a sport systems context to ensure quality experiences for children. https://t.co/nuUSylUX8O
@TomFarrey Thanks for the discourse, Tom. While originally made to help U.S. wartime production improve, he eventually helped Japan become a manufacturing giant post WW2. I think they are more collectivistic in nature & not individualistic, hence fitting one country better than the other.
