@spankeye@lilyf4g@L1ly0fth3v4l3y which literature are you talking about? only familiar with Hooks and Butler but this seems wrong on bith counts. are they not radical?
@spce33@boreddeleuzian “sex has nothing to do with linguistics” ok haha see this is just indefensible. everything in the world of words has something to do with linguistics, if u cannot talk about it then it is hard to say it exists (again, recommending Lacan)
@rabidoventare@spce33@boreddeleuzian also, philosophy of language and no Butler? so u don’t like structural linguistics? de Saussure? Lacan? much of her work is at least around structural linguistics purview imo haha
@spce33@boreddeleuzian@rabidoventare “have u ever had a thought that you hadnt read in a book yet” ok sure close enough to a gr8 question. hear me out —- Jacques Lacan — great stuff u may be interested. ideas later developed upon by many including Butler which is funnnn
@spce33@boreddeleuzian@rabidoventare u talk about these things like catechisms to obey; Foucault’s “the order of things” can help show u how that field is constructed as well. not “wrong” per se, but very obviously constructed. must warn u, this was a much harder book for me, but very rewarding as well
@rabidoventare@spce33@boreddeleuzian yeah i still dont think that is true at all haha, have u read her? what serious stuff is more comprehensible to you? for a baseline. who is an eminently comprehensible writer in the field of gender or sexuality studies to you?
@Tallulah_66_XX@boreddeleuzian “safeguarding children against trans ideology” — gotta be real it kinda seems like they should be safeguarded against your ideology freak
@rabidoventare@spce33@boreddeleuzian ill be honest… she is not that hard to read haha. one of the easiest i have found. have u actually tried or r u just sayin stuff lol
@spce33@boreddeleuzian no i dont think a persons sex is easily proven? i think the book i talked about goes deeply into that.
i think the question u asked only makes sense if u assume sex is easily proven, which again i do not
@spce33@boreddeleuzian i am saying that “objective reality of sex is easily proven” seems wrong? i am getting this notion from the book i mentioned. i gave a simple version of why in the tldr but if u want to read more i recommend that book.
