@adxtyahq Spent 7 months coding an app then removed 98% of that code within a month of launch. Just launch shit. The market will tell you what it wants
@smoothcode97 As someone a little past that stage, I’ve found it hardest to create a marketing machine where you get positive ROI for every dollar you put in… once organic alone stops being enough it gets really tricky
Sometimes I try to think about how I would see the world if everything wasn’t so normal. Like the fact there’s a massive ball of fire and gas that just sits in space and lets of rays that provide all the energy for humanity is insane. That just exists. Same with phones and trees and medicine. Like it’s just absurd that that exists.
@fardeentwt Scrolling on two TikTok accounts to warm them up while watching YouTube can genuinely be productive now and lots of people aren’t ready to hear that
As an app developer, apps are the new drop shipping
But people still make money from drop shipping, people who are good at selecting a supplier and put work into their design and marketing can still be profitable with drop shipping. Ease of access may have led to more slop, but only people who put actual work in actually end up being successful.
The same will be true with apps. Are you thinking about your user in the onboarding? Are you creating a viral but useful feature to gain and maintain users? Are you creating a repeatable marketing funnel that have positive return on each dollar spent? All of these are made easier with AI, but sitting down to try and really understand your users, being consistent with features and marketing, and actually creating maintaining a useful product still require, at the very least, hard work.
We are finding it hard to stop targeting under 18s.
We have a huge issue with 70%+ of our installations being under 18s who don’t convert nearly as well as older users.
For people in generic app spaces, where your key feature is not age-specific, How are you guys organically marketing your apps to older audiences?
@SebastianRoehl I’m a lifestyle app dev, was your conversion tanking or downloads? For us it was downloads, just not seeing people engaging with product placement the same way
American Psycho is basically a documentary about Looksmaxxing. But it was made as a satire of corporate culture. Idk but it’s kinda interesting to think about that as a sort of cycle. Is the film a prediction or is looksmaxxing just a repetition of something that humans have been doing for ages. I think it’s the second one and this is just all a lot more public now because of social media. It’s really a symptom of something that seems to keep happening. Like to what extent are these influencers taking advantage of the trend versus actually believing in it. Definitely will depend on who but I think that’s so interesting to ask them. So many interviews with Clavicular and such ask super surface level questions when I don’t think it can be disputed these guys are really at the heart of young male culture right now. Feels like a waste not to talk to them about how they’re feeling and what got them here. They aren’t stupid and I think especially with Clav an interviewer could literally gleen from him a real understanding of how young men are feeling. Can George Janko interview him please he did such a good job with Tate genuinely top 3 podcast of all time it was so interesting and he didn’t treat him as a villain so he actually got him to say interesting stuff instead of coming from a place of dislike immediately. No matter how much you don’t like these guys there can be a lot to be learned from their stories
False positives in AI detectors are a scourge on modern education. I implore one of the governing examination bodies like the IB to run scanned copies of official English exams written under examination conditions (guaranteed no ai) through Turnitin or one these such platforms to see the extent of false positives being spewed out. Not only are chat bots becoming more human-like in how they write (since they’re training on humans writing… yk) but humans using ai more will obviously start to write more like ais because that’s their content diet.
Pls and thx
Apple needs to implement automated app review before human review. Recently spend 4 days developing a feature that took over a week to get accepted. Apple needs to adapt to the age of vibe coded apps. I don’t think they should be banned, but developers using reviews as QC are acting as a mountain to the rest of us trying to get out features that go viral on TikTok quickly.
@elonmusk Why don’t we just get a massive coiled wire in a rocket, attach at the ground and pull it up to a point where centripetal forces support its weight, then we can use a wheel or track system to move stuff up. Space elevator. Am I missing something here?
