1/ 🚨🇨🇳HappeningNow: China’s police are cracking down on #Halloween with unexpected intensity: streets in Shanghai packed with police cars, human barricades of police, road barriers…Anyone in costume is immediately arrested, forced to remove makeup or even clothes.
But why?
I research women and far-right movements in the U.S. and Europe, including why women are increasingly likely to join and how their role has changed. This speech was a masterclass. 1/
@airfrance I’ve been waiting all day for your local driver to return my delayed luggage and now they’re not even replying on whether they’re coming today.
Please help!
Now I just want someone to do a voiceover of the jump off the stairs, preceded by a brief, nerdy discussion of success stats and followed by screaming D-AAAAAAY JEEENKINS as the car crests and crashes.
Because it has about the same amount of logic involved. (As an ancient meme).
@nicklafferty@stewartsc I can’t help but seeing it pull up a magic 8 ball every time you get into the car.
Voice commands and responses for the car include:
“Can you direct me to xxx destination?”
-my sources say no
-ask me again later
-signs point to yes
@Casey I’ve experienced severe smoke inhalation first hand, helping fight brush fires in Texas in my late teens.. but I didn’t have to live and raise children in that.
Hope this clears out fast for you.
@Casey I live in SF. I can’t actually imagine. Even in Sep 2020, we only hit around 220, well below the 278 we hit in 2018 during the camp fires.
NYC hitting 413 is so far beyond that it’s difficult to comprehend how that feels. Oregon experienced it, but we’ve just had a taste.
@WestCoastPat LADOT would actually have to acknowledge the racist divide of providing shade to residents if it made too much of an effort.
