The farmworker and civil rights movement was built by countless people—especially women and families who sacrificed everything for a better future. That history is bigger than any one person. Honoring that legacy means facing painful truths and continuing the work for justice with honesty and humanity.

A movement rooted in justice must address all injustice.

I am heartbroken and deeply disturbed by the stories that have come forward from women who say they were abused as girls by Cesar Chavez, and Dolores Huerta’s painful account of what she endured.

Survivors carried this pain in silence for years. We owe them our support; we must hear them and believe them. My Democratic Women’s Caucus colleagues and I will always stand with survivors and will continue fighting for a future where all women and girls are safe in their communities, homes, and at work.

The allegations leveled against Cesar Chavez — as reported in the New York Times expose — are shocking and horrifying. I support a full and thorough investigation of these deeply disturbing allegations, and my heart goes out to my friend Dolores Huerta and anyone else who suffered abuse. It’s important to remember that the labor rights movement — built on respect for human dignity and collective power -- is larger than any one individual. We remain committed to honoring that history and the basic human rights that the movement fought to recognize.

Este acuerdo histórico marca un precedente en la colaboración cultural entre México y Nuevo México, impulsando la preservación de nuestras raíces, fomentando una educación bilingüe que enriquece vidas y acercando a más personas al conocimiento y aprecio por 🇲🇽 y nuestra herencia cultural.

2/2 El Embajador de México en Estados Unidos, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán (@emoctezumab, @EmbamexEUA), realizó una visita guiada al mural ubicado en el Torreón de @NHCCFoundation @NHCCNM, el único centro cultural nacional hispano en Estados Unidos.

Este fresco monumental, el más grande de Norteamérica en superficie cóncava, titulado “Mundos de Mestizaje”, representa miles de años de cultura, historia e identidad hispana. Su autor, el Maestro Federico Vigil, dedicó más de una década a su creación.

Durante la visita, el Maestro Frederico Vigil ofreció una explicación detallada de su obra al Embajador Esteban Moctezuma Barragán acompañado por Zack Quintero (@ZackQNM), Director Ejecutivo del @NHCCNM y por la cónsul @patriciapinzon.

El recorrido destacó la riqueza de la cultura hispana, reflejando los lazos históricos y culturales que unen a nuestras naciones 🇲🇽🤝🇺🇸.
