The Chief Justice of the Republic of Zimbabwe has issued Practice Direction 1 of 2026 on the proper use and application of the terms "Struck off the roll," "Postponed Sine die," and "Removed from the roll" in the Magistrates' Court. The Practice Direction takes effect on 2 March 2026.

ZIMBABWE PARLIAMENT PASSES MAJOR AMENDMENTS TO ABORTION LAW
The National Assembly has approved key changes to the Termination of Pregnancy Act (1977) under the Medical Services Bill, 2025 — a major step toward modernising Zimbabwe’s reproductive health laws.
According to Hon. Edwin Mushoriwa (Dzivaresekwa):

“The amendments modernise the law to align it with the Constitution and promote safe, accessible, and rights-based reproductive health services, especially for women and girls.”

🔹 Girls under 18 can now access termination on demand within 12 weeks
🔹 Women’s own consent is enough — no parental or magistrate approval needed
🔹 Removes bureaucratic delays that have cost lives
🔹 Allows emergency procedures to save a woman’s life
The Bill now heads to the Senate before it becomes law.
