“This is what the LORD says: “Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.”
- Isaiah 56:1
Some of us have come to embrace our unique labours.
We know the crowd will never embrace us.
We know we may never make it to the "mainstream segment"
We know we may never conquer the mountain of ministry.
But we are content with convincing those who choose to walk in the narrow way that they are not crazy.
We are content with being the comfort of those who will not be compromised.
We are content with reminding a generation of the true faith that was delivered to us.
At the pivot of time when death and birth become one, the depth of preparation becomes the issue of triumph or disaster.

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
- Romans 8:17
The fact that "Church was fun" seems to be the best compliment we now consistently receive for a great service worries me much.
I can't imagine Paul preaching night and day with tears in his eyes and zest in his soul, only to always hear his audience say, "Church was fun today"
Church can even be fun on some occasions, but the fact that when it isn't fun( Whatever that even means) many people notice it and complain suggests that fun is now the main essence of our gathering.
My major worry is that too many people think that the word of God preached alongside worship and prayers rendered to God for a couple of hours every week is too boring, and that we need to spice things up to have a better church experience.
The first church service closed with sinful men trembling with conviction and asking...
"What shall we do to be saved"?
The average church service closes with everyone reminiscing on how much fun we had.
The only Devil that should be roaming the planet is a totally depressed one, resulting from the sheer power of a Church that projects accurate Biblical lifestyle!
I have tried very hard to imagine heaven and failed, not from a lack of belief, but a lack of category.
Some people describe it as eternal worship, a renewed earth, or total restoration.
Those may all be true, but lately I’ve stopped trying to picture what heaven looks like and started focusing on who is making it. Because I’ve seen His work.
When I see Denzel Washington on the poster of a movie, I watch it without checking the plot.
If I watched Michael Jordan in his prime, I’d want the ball in his hands for the final shot.
I’d trust Cristiano Ronaldo to step up for a life-or-death penalty. Why?
Because the work creates trust in the worker.
The Bible tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from God. If that’s true, then every pleasure, melody, and sensation I’ve ever enjoyed passed through His creative imagination first.
Sometimes I stop and marvel.
I look at my wife and startle. She is the most fascinating person I have met. The way her mind works, her wit, her humor, her voice, and the quiet depth of a person who cannot be replicated, and I ask myself how God conceived of another soul like that from scratch. I wonder how God created someone so different from me, yet so like me, to share a life with.
My son is an even deeper mystery. Biological mechanics aside, there is a brand-new consciousness looking back at me, a whole world of thoughts and possibilities in a little boy.
Then there is food.
Sometimes I eat something genuinely excellent and I almost have to laugh.
What is this? Why does the Creator of the universe care that human beings can experience the pleasure of a perfectly prepared meal?
Why are there thousands upon thousands of flavors, textures, and aromas?
Why does the world contain strawberries, coffee, bread, mangoes, spices, and all the ridiculous variety of things that can make a human being sit back and say, that was incredible?
And then I walk through Paris. There is the obvious beauty of creation: the sky, the trees, the Seine, and the changing light.
But there is another kind of beauty too.
Human beings have taken stone, steel, glass, streets, bridges, gardens, and buildings and arranged them according to particular ideas of beauty. A particular people, with particular histories and particular imaginations, have spent generations curating a city, and I stand there enjoying it.
But if human hands can build Paris to be so glorious, how much more the city with real foundations, whose architect and builder is God Himself?
What really gets me is that we are enjoying all of this in a world that is fractured, wounded, and subjected to decay.
This present beauty is common grace, a universal preview lavished freely on everyone, given even to a world that ignores, rejects, or rebels against Him.
If God spilled this much grandeur, intimacy, and delight onto a broken world, onto a preview given to all, I wonder what happens when the full curtain rises?
What has He prepared for His heirs, who inherit the reality paid for by the costly blood of His Son?
I will watch a Christopher Nolan film blind because I know his track record.
I will trust Jordan with the last shot because of what he’s done on the court.
And I will trust God with eternity because I’ve seen what He has done with time.
If this is what He made for a world in ruin, I cannot wait to see what He makes when He is finished.
Every atheist I've debated eventually lands here: if God is real, why can't we see him? I used to fumble this. Then I read 1 Timothy 1:17.
Paul is mid-argument about grace and his own conversion when he breaks suddenly into praise:
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever."
"Eternal," "immortal," and "the only God" make sense as praise. But invisible? We don't praise men for being unseen. Why does Paul list it as something as glorious as the majesty and immortality of God?
Unless invisibility is not a limitation. Unless it is out of gracious design.
Paul met the unmediated light of Christ on the road to Damascus, he was knocked into the dirt, and blind for three days. He knows what the alternative to invisible feels like. It produced collapse, not worship. His praise is a survivor's testimony.
When people ask for God to be visible, they don't understand what full divine visibility would actually require.
God is omnipresent in essence. Therefore, total divine visibility fundamentally requires omnipresent visibility.
If God reveals Himself to the fullest extent of His capacity, He must be visible everywhere, at all times.
In the room you closed the door to. In the moment you spent your life believing nobody was watching. A visible, omnipresent God is not majestic; He is psychologically catastrophic. Nobody wants this, not even the devout.
Look at Isaiah 6. The prophet sees merely the hem of God's garment filling the temple, not the full glory of God, just the overflow. His response? "Woe to me, I am undone." A partial glimpse unmade him completely.
God isn't after bland empirical agreement. James already ended that: the demons believe, and tremble.
Intellectual assent is a bar the devil clears daily.
God isn't running a census of the convinced; He is seeking genuine love. And genuine love requires genuine choice, which requires that the object of love not be overwhelming.
This is why women despise love bombing. A man who floods your psychological space until refusal becomes impossible isn't loving you, he is eliminating the conditions for love. The "yes" he extracts is engineered by exhaustion.
God does the exact opposite. He veils His glory precisely so that you retain the dignity of saying no. The love bomber makes himself so large that you have no choice. God makes Himself small enough that you do.
Which brings us directly to the Incarnation.
The Incarnation is God making Himself visible enough to be known, but small enough to be rejected without fuss.
It is the most precise solution to the most precise problem: God doesn't arrive as a sky-filling terror, but as a baby in a manger in a backwater town. You can walk past a carpenter from Nazareth. You cannot walk past the throne of Isaiah 6.
The Bible is already clear that every knee will bow, a day of compelled reality as certain as the sun. But God is not eager for a forced crowd. Right now, He is seeking the single, freely given return of a heart in love.
When an atheist asks why he cannot see God, he is asking a better question than he knows. The answer is not absence. The answer is restraint.
Now one can finally understand why Paul says INVISIBLE, and means it as highest acclaim. It is not a limitation, it is a mercy.
@AttorneyF_ “…. If “God is evil” what is the comparative moral standard. What do you compare him to? If the universe is purposeless matter, then morality is just your nervous system firing preferences. You are just filing a complaint with no court, no law, and no standing…”
