No matter how hard things might be for you. If you can learn to find the light with whatever dark situation your going through and you can learn to laugh at the things that should make you miserable (including yourself sometimes), your going to be a significantly happier person.
Imam in al-Qayyim said,
"Whoever knows himself well, would keep himself busy reforming himself instead of talking about the faults of others. Whoever knows his Lord, would keep himself busy trying to please Him instead of trying to please himself."
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "I swear by Allah that I seek Allah's Pardon and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."
[Al-Bukhari].
The Prophet Muhammad said:
When one of you makes du’a, let him begin by praising his Lord, then send blessings on the Prophet, then pray for whatever he wants.
