SINDH ASSEMBLY SAYS NO TO DIVISION: LAWMAKERS PASS HISTORIC RESOLUTION TO PROTECT PROVINCE'S UNITY
.. In a major political development, the Sindh Assembly has passed a landmark resolution firmly rejecting any proposal to divide the province or alter its geographical boundaries. Led by the governing Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the assembly used its democratic platform to settle ongoing public debate and send a clear message: Sindh is one, and it will stay one.
The resolution was introduced by senior PPP leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro following detailed debates in the house. By bringing the sensitive topic straight to the floor of the elected assembly, the leadership chose a peaceful, constitutional path to handle national division talks rather than letting tensions spill into street protests.
A Firm Stand for Democratic Principles
During the session, Chief Minister @CM_Sindh emphasized that decisions about the future of Sindh belong strictly to the people and their chosen representatives. He noted that big political decisions should not be made on television shows or in private meetings, but inside the elected provincial assembly.
The resolution highlights that Sindh is a historic, undivided entity that played a key foundational role in the creation of Pakistan. By invoking Article 239(4) of the Constitution, the assembly reaffirmed that no changes can be made to a province's boundaries without the direct approval of its own elected parliament.
Key Highlights of the Resolution
Defending Integrity: Unequivocally rejects any plan, scheme, or constitutional move to slice Sindh or create new provinces out of its territory.
No Federal Takeover: Rejects any idea to place any district or region of Sindh under federal or separate administrative control.
Parliamentary Precedent: Reaffirms similar historic resolutions passed by the Sindh Assembly in 1948, 2012, 2014, and 2019 to safeguard its borders.
Call to Federal Institutions: Urges the federal government, Parliament, and state institutions to respect the clear democratic will of the people of Sindh.
Democracy in Action
Under the political guidance of PPP Chairman @BBhuttoZardari the party chose to address public concerns by opening the assembly floor for structured debate. While opposition lawmakers raised concerns regarding administrative empowerment and local services, the passage of the resolution demonstrated how democratic institutions can resolve tough political challenges peacefully and transparently.
By choosing dialogue over political posturing, the Sindh Assembly members and the PPP leadership proved that democratic forums remain the strongest tool to defend provincial rights and maintain political stability.
