BREAKING: The first Alzheimer's drug that has been proven to slow the disease's progression, Leqembi, has received FULL FDA approval.
The approval was based on clinical trial data that showed the drug actually slows cognitive decline by 27 percent.
Having had 2 grandparents get the disease, and with 6.7 million people in the United States suffering from it, I can't say how happy I am to see this approval.
“Today’s action is the first verification that a drug targeting the underlying disease process of Alzheimer’s disease has shown clinical benefit in this devastating disease,” said Teresa Buracchio, acting director of FDA’s Office of Neuroscience.
Let's hope that this is just the start of multiple treatments for Alzheimer's!
