I think a lot of global players are accidentally reading this situation backwards😳
Most people only saw:
Valko announced → CN backlash → Valko canceled.
So the conclusion naturally became, "PPG just listened to toxic fans." But from everything that's been surfacing from CN, that timeline seems... incomplete.
What started as concerns over production capacity, missing content, long-term planning, and the introduction of a new LI appears to have snowballed into discussions surrounding a politically and historically sensitive reference that PPG quietly changed before the cancellation letter was even published. And that's a completely different level of controversy😣
Once a discussion moves beyond fandom spaces and starts touching nationally sensitive issues in China, the stakes change dramatically.
This became a company crisis.
A reputation crisis.
Potential regulatory scrutiny.
Potentially an existential crisis if things kept escalating.
The deeper I look into what actually happened, the more it feels like we only witnessed the ending while missing everything that happened behind the scenes😭
I'm a CN player. I'm a Caleb stan. And I'm done being polite about this.
You don't get to call an entire player base racist while knowing absolutely nothing about what actually happened. So sit down and read.
CN players didn't wake up one morning and decide to cancel a character because of his skin color. We spent 500+ days waiting for main story updates that never came. We watched the company fail to deliver content for five existing characters while announcing a sixth — breaking an explicit promise of "no new love interests." In 2025, Love and Deepspace ranked #1 on China's largest consumer complaint platform with 3,406 cases about unequal resource distribution. This rage was years in the making. Valko was the last straw, not the cause.
Then we found a drug experimentation record inside the game numbered 0731. If that means nothing to you, that's your ignorance, not our problem. Unit 731 was a Japanese military program that conducted live human experiments — vivisections, biological warfare, forced infections — on thousands of Chinese civilians and POWs during WWII. The in-game record included the name 严颂, a phonetic match to Japanese researchers from the unit, within a full narrative of injection protocols, endurance testing, and forced mental control. Players reported this through customer service when it first launched. It was ignored. The company later called it "a random placeholder number." Six state media systems, a national think tank, and a prosecutor's office publicly called that a lie.
Now let me tell you why you had no idea about any of this.
The company deliberately gutted every trace of Chinese identity from your version of the game. Chinese New Year's Eve was deleted from the script. The Lantern Festival greeting was removed across every language version — Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean — while the holiday imagery was kept, proving it was a deliberate directive, not a translation choice. Mid-Autumn Festival was renamed to a fictional name. Christmas and Halloween? Kept their real names. Chinese text was manually redrawn out of cutscene animations. Chinese food was erased from date scenes — four date menus, zero Chinese dishes, in a game made by a Chinese company. A calligraphy illustration had its Chinese characters scrubbed for international release. A government-backed collaboration promoting Chinese sports culture at the Asian Winter Games was posted three times domestically and zero times on any international channel.
You were handed a product that was systematically stripped of its origin. And now you have the audacity to tell us our concerns don't matter — while consuming a game built on Chinese players' money and Chinese creators' labor.
The apology letter you received was also different from ours. Your version said "we weren't ready to introduce Valko." Our version acknowledged broken promises, failed content delivery, and systemic trust collapse. Same company, same decision, two completely different explanations — designed so that you'd blame us instead of them. And it worked. Here you are, calling us racist, while the company that lied to both of us watches from the sidelines.
And let me be absolutely clear about where things stand right now. This is no longer a player dispute. This is no longer about your feelings or ours. The Chinese government has taken notice. As of today, state media outlets at every level — from central party organs to provincial papers, from the national women's federation to the legal system — have published critical coverage demanding accountability. A prosecutor's office has issued a formal legal characterization of the game's content as violating regulations on public morality and national sentiment. State media are calling for the company to undergo "fundamental reform." Whether this company can survive what comes next is an open question.
Your anger in our comment sections changes nothing. The character was not cancelled because of tweets or Reddit threads. It was cancelled because institutional power stepped in. And that same institutional power is still escalating, not retreating. You are screaming at the wrong people about a situation you fundamentally do not control and do not understand.
So no. We are not "xenophobic" for refusing to let a company monetize our historical trauma. We are not throwing "toddler tantrums" for demanding accountability after 500 days of broken promises. And we are certainly not going to apologize for defending a position that our own government, our own judiciary, and our own national media have now publicly endorsed.
You want to be angry? Be angry at the company that decided you didn't deserve the truth.
Or don't. But understand this: your ignorance was manufactured, your outrage was engineered, and the people you're defending don't even respect you enough to tell you the same story they told us.
One last thing. Before you reply, ask yourself whether you can dispute a single fact in this post — not with feelings, not with "well I don't care about 731," not with "China is racist" — but with a single verifiable fact that proves anything I said is wrong. If you can't, then you don't have a counterargument. You have a reaction. And reactions don't change reality.
Every claim above is backed by public data, official media coverage, in-game evidence, and documented company behavior. If you choose to ignore all of it because it's easier to blame Chinese players than to confront what this company did to all of us, that's your choice. But don't mistake your comfort for the truth.
Taking things with a grain of salt but there's some truth in what CN govt is capable of, if one is familiar with the C-drama industry.
If Infold had communicated clearly and addressed issues, things would never have progressed this bad. Now all CN otome are at risk. Sigh...
That's a good way of thinking. It may not look like a direct correlation, but everything has consequences outside of the bubble that customers are in. Accepting bullshit from company now signals what we are willing to tolerate as customers in any business sector
Kata gw lu kalo dari awal dengerin player dan plan timeline story yg bener tanpa gegabah ga bakal terjadi gini, uda MS nunggak, banyak masalah, eh tiba2 gas release character, kontroversi pengunaan angka 731 yg sgt sensitif, masalahnya bukan di valko nya tapi dev nya 😭
I highly encourage everyone who’s angry at this sl decision to look deeper into this issue and ask WHY CN fans are so against his release. The problem isn’t just a black and white issue of “oh CN doesn’t like Valko and that’s why this happened, screw them”. It’s a much much +
A Letter to All Players
Dear Miss Hunters,
We sincerely apologize for reaching out once again. Over the past several days, our team has been closely following your conversations and feedback across all platforms. For the issues that have surfaced since the announcement of Version 6.0—and the frustration these have caused our community—we want to clearly state: we are sorry.
As we've expressed before, our vision for Love and Deepspace has always been to build a world that grows alongside you—one that offers a richer, deeper sense of companionship over time.
As various issues have arisen in recent days, we have moved quickly to make the necessary adjustments. After reflecting on recent events, we recognize that we moved forward with the introduction of Valko before we were truly ready. In doing so, we let down the players who have supported us from the start, and we also fell short of delivering the experience that players anticipating Valko deserved. After extensive internal discussions, we have decided to make the following changes:
1. We have decided to cancel both the launch and any further development of the new love interest. We also commit that no additional love interests will be introduced in future content plans.
2. All other in-game systems and features originally scheduled for Version 6.0—including Home 2.0 and AR Photobooth—as well as the limited-time Selectable 5-Star Memory Rate-Up Event, will proceed as planned. The outfits, photo poses and scenes, and the Nighthush Box (the second-anniversary 4-Star Memory Selection Crate) originally planned as rewards for the Hunt in Linkon event will instead be sent to all players for free via in-game mail after the version update.
3. Going forward, the entire team will focus on further developing the stories and long-term companionship experiences of our five existing love interests, while ensuring a stable pace of Main Story production and updates. Rafayel's new Solar-Slot Memories and Companion will be revealed in July. Farspace Colonel Caleb and Onychinus Leader Sylus will also return in their Main Story branches in September and November, respectively. By participating in the relevant events, players will be able to obtain the corresponding 5-Star Main Story Branch Memories for free. We will continue to devote all our care and effort to bringing you richer stories and game experiences.
4. Beginning today and continuing for 30 days, players who log in each day will receive one Deepspace Wish via in-game mail. Each mail will remain claimable for three days, for a total of 30 Deepspace Wishes. We hope this can offer some compensation for the disappointment and disruption caused by these adjustments.
To our community: once again, we apologize. Because of our actions, the joy you should have found in Linkon City became a source of distress, and the feelings you hold most dear were hurt. We are deeply sorry for the hurt and disappointment we have caused.
Love and Deepspace has always been about sharing love with you and protecting the love we all hold dear. That purpose has never wavered. Every step forward taken by the love interests and Linkon City—from its beginnings to where it stands today—has been shaped by your feedback, your passion, and your trust. It is your presence, care, and companionship that give this world its meaning, and us the strength and direction to move forward.
Over the past two and a half years, we've shared moments of joy and gratitude, as well as challenges and difficult times. Through every late night devoted to making this world better, it has been the moments you've shared in Linkon City—and the love and passion behind them—that have kept us going. We hope to continue walking this road with you, building a world where love can take root, grow, and bloom.
Going forward, we will work harder, listen more carefully, and do our utmost to honor the trust you have placed in us. We will stay focused on delivering the experience you deserve—one filled with love where every moment in Linkon City can once again become a joyful and treasured memory.
Linkon City will always be here for you.
Thank you—for your trust, your honest feedback and encouragement, and for being with us every step of the way. Your companionship has helped light the path ahead, and your faith in us has given meaning to every effort we make. Thank you for your love throughout this journey. It gives us the courage to keep moving forward. We hope to repay that love with even more and even better content in the days to come.
#LADSValkoCanceled
[ End of Infold era? ]
Okay...I'm just gonna share my thought all once to this and please feel free to skip as its a long one (no hard feelings taken). Waking up this morning to see a lot of post regarding about the situation of otome mistreatment topics, the controversy 731, and assumptions EOS of lads is beyond staggering over a simple gacha game Infold couldn't damn do to address and resolve this properly within the community. These would have been avoid today if it happened to do their job RESPONSIBLE and ACCOUNTABILITY for their own actions, instead of being corruptible with those fanservices month to month as they been milking each mains everyone else’s money. I'm 2.0 player to know less in these things as I only wanted is to have fun with full gaming experienced for Sylus remarkably, but the sentiment we all have (despite loathing each other in some reasons) in different platforms both global and CN together explains alot that we're on the same page against one enemy through time until today is: INFOLD/PAPERGAMES.
I've also seen a lot of people including outsiders would bypass this as it's understandable crossing this platform or anywhere else avoid toxicity and get the piece of their mind in peace (which is good for mental health). Though to share awareness to know what the hell is going on today because of this 6.0 being such a big deal? It is a big deal, and its best to know this as you being the consumer with your money and rights where its leading. It is more than just getting excited over a new love interest. It is not about Valko appearances, fanwars, who is better or not among the 5 MLs, who is sexy to shift from favoritism, other negative labels, etc. No not of that. A player has their own choices, and definitely be respected who they want to play and end up with. However, it shouldn't mock and criticize others for DEFENDING THEIR RIGHTS. At this point in time today, slashing each other's throats doesn't do anything but to hype this topic towards its "Love and Deepspace" title is EXACTLY WHAT INFOLD NEEDED TO SEE. A player may sure to spend their money as they freely wish on this gacha, but at the end of the day there will be ignorance once player ask something in return. So here's some awareness which it is not "fearmongering" what the hell is happening in short summary:
Ppl who think infold would take such a huge decision SOLELY because of CN girlies and not because of the many other mistakes made by the company such as mismanagement and poor communication are genuinely stupid. No company will straight up cancel a huge project simply+
I don’t think Valko is cancelled due to CN fans. They ratio-ed every single Valko posts on xhs but Infold still kept him and insisted that there will be more LIs coming up. But the moment their government stepped in (731 mentioned in game) they panicked 🤷🏻♀️
