@weird_FM A gp cannot be responsible for a PAs confirmation bias during supervision. Also if every single aspect of PA led care must be scrutinised, then you have to ask, how much time or effort is being saved that couldn’t be achieved by using the funds for an extra GP trainee. Ratio=3:1.

@weird_FM Because they thought everything was alright, they probably didn’t escalate to the supervising gp.

@weird_FM What it boils down to is this, yes it’s true everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone should be able to make a mistake. Especially for something so barn door. In this case specifically, false reassurance is what got the patient killed.

@weird_FM There is enough evidence that many of your colleagues don’t. The main issue is that as a non medic you should not be seeing undifferentiated patients, and legally a patient shouldn’t be seen by a PA twice for the same problem. Emily Chesterton is an example of this.
