Minister Matawalle inspects AFRIDEX venue ahead opening
The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has inspected preparations for the Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX 2026) ahead of its official opening in Lagos on Monday.
Matawalle inspected the venue at Eko Atlantic on Sunday, October 25, as organisers made final preparations for the four-day exhibition scheduled to run from October 26 to 29.
According to a statement signed by his Personal Assistant on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the minister commended the Director-General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, Brigadier General Ibrahim Babatunde Alaya, and his team for their efforts in preparing for the event.
The exhibition, hosted by DICON, is expected to bring together military leaders, government officials, defence manufacturers, technology developers and investors from Africa and beyond.
It will showcase defence technologies and indigenous innovations across land, maritime, air and cyber operations.
The event is also expected to provide a platform for discussions on emerging security threats, technology transfer, investment opportunities and partnerships aimed at strengthening Africa's defence industrial capacity.
Organisers said the exhibition would facilitate collaboration between defence companies and procurement officials while promoting the development of local manufacturing capabilities.
AFRIDEX 2026 is designed to encourage the exchange of technical knowledge and showcase military equipment, systems and technologies that could support defence and security operations across the continent.
The exhibition comes amid continuing efforts by African countries to strengthen their defence industries and reduce dependence on imported military equipment.

Imagine weaponising an old photograph that reads “2023” to wish calamity upon fellow human beings, yet these are the same moral grandstanders who parade themselves as the self-appointed custodians of decency and righteousness on this app.
The day I descend to this level of moral bankruptcy and dehumanising cruelty is the day I acknowledge that I have lost the very essence of my humanity. If this is the new definition of opposition politics, then I would rather remain a thousand miles away from such a despicable enterprise.

Kaduna’s role in shaping the APC’s journey to 2027 will be the focus as Governor @UbaSaniUs appears on TVC News’ Politics on Sunday to discuss the party’s campaign strategy and the road ahead.

A moment from the inaugural presidential campaign in Kaduna State
as @KashifuInuwa, exchanges pleasantries with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Tell her to use an earpiece or AirPods. If she doesn’t have any, buy one for her. If she still refuses to use it, wait until she falls asleep and break the phone in half in the middle of the night.
DG of NITDA and Chairman/National Coordinator of Tinubu Must Stay (TMS), @KashifuInuwa, shares a cordial moment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu in Kaduna State yesterday during the official flag-off of the APC presidential campaign.
The gathering brought together prominent leaders and stakeholders to mark the commencement of campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with TMS also represented at the historic event.
He’s loved in the north, more than one could ever imagine. The man whose political calculations consistently keep his opponents guessing.
The tsunami of support gathering momentum for this man is something we are not even ready for. Easily one of the smartest politicians to have ever walked the face of this earth.

“Rented Crowd”
Don’t go to work, stay on twitter and be shouting “Rented Crowd”
The 2027 presidential election will be over by 12 noon. #ArewaForAsiwaju
It’s okay to admit you are ignorant. Fullo/Pullo refers to the Fulani. They are an ethnic group, not a non-state armed group. You obviously don’t know what a non-state actor means. They are as entitled to employment in any social setting as anyone else. This is akin to someone referring to you, an Igbo man, as an IPOB militant simply because of your ethnic origin.
The Fulani have been unfairly stereotyped by bigots like you, who lump every Fulani person together as an “armed non-state actor” or a criminal. The VP’s post here humanises them and portrays them as law-abiding citizens with equal rights to employment and the constitutional freedom of association. You are quick to dish out bigotry but always rush to play the victim when your ethnic group is stereotyped in a similar fashion.
What record do you have in the North apart from this?
You are the most shameless politician in Northern Nigeria.
#ArewaForAsiwaju. President Tinubu is the best president we have ever had in the history of this country. #A4A
RANCHERS BEES STADIUM IS PACKED WITH EXCITEMENT!
Supporters have already started filling Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna as preparations continue for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign flag-off
Kaduna is ready! #ArewaForAsiwaju 🙌
The desperation to manufacture propaganda is getting out of hand! How do you claim that campaign billboards across Kaduna are heavily guarded when hundreds of them are standing freely in different locations without anyone guarding them?
Let’s be honest: security operatives stationed at major junctions and roundabouts are part of the normal security arrangements for a presidential visit. There is nothing unusual about that. It happens whenever a President visits a state, regardless of political party.
Instead of acknowledging the preparations happening across Kaduna, some people would rather twist ordinary security measures into a controversial story. Unfortunately for them, facts are stubborn, and people can see what is happening with their own eyes.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign train is heading to Kaduna, and the atmosphere speaks for itself. The opposition can keep pushing whatever narrative they like, but reality remains reality. Kaduna is ready!
