The Wartburg College golf, wrestling and women's bowling programs combined for nine selections to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Districtยฎ At-Large Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Representing the Knights were Lucas Bartachek and Sam Jermier from men's golf, Brett Birchman from men's wrestling, Lauren Funk and Madison Shontz from women's bowling, Madelyn Bender and Brenna Bodensteiner from women's golf, and Rewa Chababo and Kylie Rule from women's wrestling.

The Wartburg College men's and women's track and field programs each earned top-10 finishes in the 2025-26 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (@USTFCCCA) Program of the Year standings, the organization announced.
The Wartburg men placed third in the Al Carius Men's Program of the Year standings, marking the highest finish in program history. The Knights recorded a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, placed ninth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, and finished seventh at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships to accumulate 19 Program of the Year (POY) points.
The Wartburg women finished 10th in the Deb Vercauteren Women's Program of the Year standings. The Knights placed 23rd at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, 15th at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, and 17th at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships to total 55.5 POY points.
The top-10 finish marks the 11th time since 2009 that the Wartburg women's program has concluded the academic year among the nation's top 10 in the USTFCCCA Program of the Year standings โ fourth time for the men's team.

The Wartburg College outdoor track and field teams capped off an impressive showing at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with All-American performances in seven events on Saturday, led by a national runner-up finish and school record from JoJo Tyynismaa in the women's 400-meter hurdles.
Tyynismaa delivered one of the top performances in program history, earning National Runner-Up honors with a school-record time of 59.26 in the 400-meter hurdles. Her mark eclipsed the previous record held since 2014 and secured her third All-American accolade of the dayv. Tyynismaa finished the national meet with All-American honors in all four of her qualifying events.
Freshman Nathan Ahern also etched his name into the Wartburg record book, breaking his own school record in the men's 800-meter run with a sixth-place finish of 1:49.96. The performance earned Ahern First-Team All-American recognition in his inaugural outdoor season and marked the program's first All-American finish in the event since 2018.
The Wartburg men concluded the national meet seventh in the team standings with 21 points, while the women placed 17th overall with 16.5 points. In total, the Knights amassed 26 All-American performances across the three-day championship event.
