It was great to join the celebrations at the new Callerton Co-op store opening last week.
The community event coincided with the launch of our new ultra-rapid charging site at Callerton Rise Retail Park, helping bring convenient EV charging to local residents, shoppers and visitors.
Representing Zapgo on the day, our COO, Ross Mabon, said:
“It was fantastic to attend the opening of the new Callerton Co-op and celebrate the launch of our ultra-rapid charging site alongside the local community. As this neighbourhood continues to grow, it’s important that the supporting infrastructure grows with it. By working with partners such as Co-op, we can deliver convenient charging in locations where people already live, shop and spend time, making EV ownership easier and more accessible for drivers.”

We’re very pleased to announce that Zapgo has joined @EVUKexpert (EVUK) as a Super Partner, becoming the only charge point operator represented at the organisation's highest partnership tier.
Today’s announcement is an exciting milestone for all of us at Zapgo and comes at an important time for the UK's electric vehicle market.
Battery electric vehicles accounted for 27% of all new car registrations in May 2026, while growing demand in the used EV market is making the switch to electric accessible to even more drivers.
As more drivers make the switch, reliable charging infrastructure and trusted information will be critical to supporting continued growth. While record levels of consumer enquiries are coming to EVUK, misinformation about EVs remains widespread in many parts of the media.
Our partnership with EVUK will enable us to contribute an authoritative and reliable voice from a charge point operator's perspective based on our real-world experience of delivering rapid and ultra-rapid charging infrastructure in underserved communities across the UK.
Our CEO, Neil Mahapatra, said:
"Partnering with EVUK amplifies our mission to bring EV charging to underserved areas as we work alongside the best of the UK EV industry: sharing what we know, learning from each other, and helping to advance a faster, fairer EV transition. We also look forward to working with EVUK on numerous political projects to help shape the regulatory landscape.”
Tanya Sinclair, CEO of Electric Vehicles UK said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Zapgo as an EVUK partner. Together we are bigger, broader and better-equipped than ever to support UK drivers considering the switch to electric. And we need to be. Drivers want straight answers about EVs: on cost, on charging, on real-world range, on what’s right for their lives. Cutting through the noise with impartial, trustworthy guidance is exactly what EVUK exists to do.”

The future of EV charging is about making charging fit naturally into the places people already want to visit.
Whether that's a local shop, a café, a leisure destination or somewhere to spend time with family, charging works best when it's part of the journey, not the sole reason for it.
Our latest Zapgo Insights article looks at how EV charging differs from traditional petrol station forecourts.

Nobody wants to spend their time standing by their car watching a battery percentage climb.
Destination charging is all about getting on with your day while your vehicle charges in the background.
Park. Plug in. Get on with your day.
When you come back, your vehicle is then ready for the journey home.
The key factor is the location of the charger.

EV charging is often compared to filling up at a petrol station. But the reality is that most drivers don't want to make a special trip just to charge. They want to plug in while they're shopping, grabbing a coffee, meeting friends or enjoying a day out.
The best charging infrastructure isn't just built around the charger. It's built around how people actually live.
Our latest Zapgo Insights article looks at how EV charging differs from traditional petrol station forecourts.

For many destination businesses, EV charging is no longer simply about being green.
It's becoming a compelling commercial opportunity.
By encouraging longer visits and attracting new customers, charging infrastructure can help businesses generate additional revenue while making better use of an existing asset.
Much like free Wi-Fi before it, EV charging is rapidly becoming something customers expect to find when they arrive at a destination.
Our latest Zapgo Insights article looks at how businesses can harness EV charging to increase their footfall and gain additional revenue.

EV drivers are increasingly choosing destinations where they can charge while they visit, eat, shop or stay overnight.
For businesses, that presents a significant opportunity.
Whether you run a pub, hotel, sports club, garden centre or tourist attraction, EV charging can help attract visitors who may otherwise choose to stop elsewhere.
As charging becomes a more important part of the customer journey, businesses with the right infrastructure will be better placed to stand out from the competition and attract new customers.

A car park is often viewed as a simple necessity. But for many destination businesses, it can be much more than that.
On-site EV charging encourages drivers to stay longer while they charge, enabling them to visit a café, browse a shop or enjoy a meal.
For pubs, hotels, sports and leisure centres, and tourist attractions, that extra dwell time can translate into additional revenue and a better customer experience.
As EV adoption continues to grow, destination charging is becoming an increasingly valuable commercial asset.

Building EV infrastructure isn't simply about installing more chargers.
It's about delivering charging in the places where drivers actually need it - in places which are currently falling behind in EV charger provision.
That requires collaboration between charge point operators, landowners, local authorities, stakeholders and distribution network operators to ensure the infrastructure beneath every charger is ready for the future.
In our latest Zapgo Insights article, we explore why long-term planning and stronger grid connectivity will be essential to delivering a charging network that works for everyone.

Access to reliable EV charging shouldn't be a postcode lottery.
Many of the UK's most popular tourist destinations, hospitality venues, sports clubs and local businesses are located outside major towns and cities. Yet rural communities often have far fewer public charging options available than urban areas.
As EV adoption continues to grow, drivers need confidence that they can travel anywhere in the country without worrying about where they'll charge next.
Our latest Zapgo Insights article looks at why rural charging matters and what needs to happen to ensure communities across the UK aren't left behind.

EV charging is needed across the country, not just in town centres. The biggest challenge facing rural EV charging, however, is hidden underground.
For charge point operators, grid connectivity can be the difference between a site being viable or not. Even where demand exists, limited grid capacity, lengthy connection processes and upgrade costs can delay much-needed infrastructure.
In our latest Zapgo Insights article, we explore why grid connectivity is becoming one of the most important issues facing the future of rural EV charging and discuss how we can overcome this through collaboration with other stakeholders.

ZAPGO INSIGHT:
One of the biggest shifts in the EV market right now is psychological.
Drivers increasingly see EVs as a safer and more practical financial decision rather than an aspirational purchase.
Against the backdrop of increasing fuel prices, drivers are being drawn to EVs by improving charger reliability, increasing charging speed, ease of payment, and growing confidence in the rapidly expanding EV charger network.

ZAPGO INSIGHT:
The UK now has over two million registered EVs.
That milestone says a lot about how quickly driver behaviour is changing.
As fuel prices fluctuate and household budgets remain under pressure, more drivers are prioritising certainty, convenience and lower running costs.
At Zapgo, we’re playing our part by ensuring the charging infrastructure rollout keeps pace with that demand.

Last month, we were very proud to support the @Burscough_CC vs @LashingsWorldXI Charity Cricket Match, held nearby to our charging site at The Stanley Club.
The event brought together hundreds of spectators from Burscourgh and the surrounding area for a fantastic local celebration.
With all proceeds from the match going towards youth development at Burscough Cricket Club, Zapgo is proud to continue playing our part in supporting local communities around our charging sites, having donated £10,000 to The Stanley Club last year to support essential building repairs.
We remain committed to investing in the communities in which we operate and look forward to continuing to support residents and visitors in Burscough over the coming years.
