I learned that if you care about this people, you need to talk to them and explain why you did it/understand why they didn't like it. And if you don't care, let it go. But I also love my job, I'm happier when I get a 18 years old to walk for the first time in months toward his mom, or when my patient gets to walk his daughter down the aisle thanks to all the hard work we've done together. Sue me.
