🇦🇿🛩 President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree honouring the bravery and professionalism of the crew members involved in the aftermath of the tragic crash of an Embraer 190 passenger aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), during its Baku–Grozny (Russia) flight.

The presidential decree, published on the official website of the President of Azerbaijan, posthumously awards the title of National Hero to Igor Kshnyakin, Alexander Kalyaninov, and Hokuma Aliyeva for their courageous actions during the emergency.

In addition, two surviving crew members, Zulfugar Asadov and Aydan Ragimli, have been awarded the prestigious 1st Degree Rashadat Order for their exceptional professionalism and invaluable contributions in managing the crisis.

The Azerbaijani pilots lost all hydraulics and tried to steer with engine thrust only after having been hit by a Russian missile and forced to cross the Caspian Sea after being denied emergency landing in Russia.

They saved 29 lives while losing their own.

What we know so far on the Plane Incident (as confirmed by pro-government media):
1.Attack by Russian Air Defense: The plane was hit by a Russian Pantsir air defense system.
2.Denied Emergency Landing: Russia refused to allow the damaged aircraft to land at three nearby airports, despite its critical condition.
3.GPS Jamming: The plane was subjected to extreme GPS jamming, forcing it to divert over the Caspian Sea and eventually land in Aktau, Kazakhstan.
4.Intent to Conceal Evidence: The diversion to fly over Caspian Sea was a deliberate attempt to have the aircraft crash into the sea, eliminating any evidence of an attack.
5.Demands from Azerbaijan: The Azerbaijani government demands official recognition, a formal apology, and accountability for those responsible for the attack.

Azerbaijani pilot Aleksandr Kalyaninov died as a hero while saving dozens of lives.

The passenger plane was very difficult to control after it was struck by a Russian missile near Grozny.

He made it across the Caspian Sea after having been refused an emergency landing in Russia
