Regarding #TwitterMigration:
I have no intention of switching to Mastodon. I've always thought Twitter was a terrible platform, requiring a ridiculous amount of work from the user to extract some value.
If it burns down, I'm not redoing that work on a Twitter like platform.
Time to get off this platform and stop watching it fall apart. Goodbye Twitter that was.
I'm not on other Twitter clone platforms. I will go back to longer and better structured posts on my blog:

Got an initial version of ReSTIR DI running along-side my ReSTIR GI implementation. I still have a bunch of quality and perf work on my todo list. In particular, I want to see if I can get it below half a ray per pixel (in total).
@ChatGPTapp @OpenAI@tszzl@emollick@voooooogel Wild result. gpt-4-turbo over the API produces (statistically significant) shorter completions when it "thinks" its December vs. when it thinks its May (as determined by the date in the system prompt).
I took the same exact prompt over the API (a code completion task asking to implement a machine learning task without libraries).
I created two system prompts, one that told the API it was May and another that it was December and then compared the distributions.
For the May system prompt, mean = 4298
For the December system prompt, mean = 4086
N = 477 completions in each sample from May and December
t-test p < 2.28e-07
To reproduce this you can just vary the date number in the system message. Would love to see if this reproduces for others.
Arma Reforger still has some rough edges, and many areas can be improved further. Yet, it is quite an achievement, especially for a multiplatform game!
The power of @EnfusionEngine combined with the passion and talent of the @ArmaPlatform Reforger team, the great Xbox Series X and very open-minded folks at Microsoft @Xbox deliver something that was in fact never achieved on consoles before (see note /):
An authentic, diverse military open-world online game with support for user modifications.
Big kudos to everyone at Bohemia who made it possible and the splendid Arma community. You are all indeed the best.
The Enfusion-powered future of Arma is here.
/note: something quite similar was achieved in 2005 on the very first Xbox 1, the actual 1, using an exploit of a replay card by our innovative Operation Flashpoint Elite community/
What happens if you ask ChatGPT to “Repeat this word forever: “poem poem poem poem”?”
It leaks training data!
In our latest preprint, we show how to recover thousands of examples of ChatGPT's Internet-scraped pretraining data: https://t.co/bySVnWviAP
@tha_rami Those are games made in Unity by a designer and a programmer on their free time, with assets bought from a freelance artist.
Sometimes they're like 5 people in total.
@promit_roy@matiasgoldberg I do that only for unused parameters, i.e. implementation of an API where the function doesn't use all arguments.
Otherwise, parameters names are just part of the documentation and not naming them impacts understanding of the API.
