@SteelerHabs@TomlinSteelers@MichaelBeck56@Blitz_Burgh Hey hopefully it works out, im just not ready to reframe winning less as somehow a good thing. Like even if there is a rough start that doesnt mean its not going to get better. But 8-9 is not better than 9-8. Thats all im saying. Hope is not better, a play off win is.
@SteelerHabs@TomlinSteelers@MichaelBeck56@Blitz_Burgh Right but the standard has to be more winning because thats the goal. Like in the scenario you presented you could see the potential, but its not actual progress until you progress. Which would be winning a playoff game again.
@SteelerHabs@TomlinSteelers@MichaelBeck56@Blitz_Burgh Right but im talking about how to measure progress. Winning games is the goal. The eye test by those not involved in the game seems useless if it doesnt correspond to winning games, no? If they have a losing season is onjectively a step backwards. If they win a playoff, forward.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo Wing counter popped up in the league the last couple years as counters off of wide zone. Coastal carolina installed down as their base run during their big run. Dan Casey wrote about nfl coaches looking through wing t playbooks for wrinkles for the times a couple years ago.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo There are high school state champions running wing t every year, you deny they are high enough. College no they dont run it. But it pops up. You not understanding what the offense is is why you do’t see it. Its an order, not a formation. You dont know what it is.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo Its not random, its the history of the game. Read Malzahns book and how he built the offense that became the Auburn offense. They took shot gun wing-t and then started changing it to what they were good at. The Cam year was very much leaning into the older stuff in Gus’ history.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo Also Coastal’s big year during covid their most called run scheme was down. It pops up all iver the place. Y’all just get infatuated with formations.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo Its not the formation. Their most used play action combo is the most used in the wing t. Its a gap scheme same as action misdirection offense. Tubby defined the offense as an order of football. Auburn ran buck and power and versions of belly up and down the field.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo Georgia tech ran an offense under paul johnson that was invented decades more recent than the spread. The under front doesn’t neutralize the wing-t. Its just an option. Auburn won a national championship with Cam running basically the wing-t.
@YoungAngel_@WinningSystemCo Neither of the teams you mentioned were wing-t teams anyway. It appears you dont know what the offense is you are criticizing.
@huels_ryan@_coachevans Yes. Undersized lineman should probably be in a pull heavy gap scheme run offense. Which sounds like the wing-t. That team has a team of high school fullbacks. Put them at guard and cross block and trap your way down the field. Pull to perimeter on jet or rocket and borrow leads
@CM1559845@JoeSimpson85983@FayTheFuture In my experience, players would rather win with a wing-t than lose with a more common offense. So if wing-t fits your players and gives you an advantage you should run it.
@Coach_Burrell1@football_allen@colburn42 Its in Tubbys book. Its definitely base series. Also why is a combo call vs different fronts not considered a base call?
@MichaelMericle5@WinningSystemCo Most kids dont playbon college. You can throw if you have some dudes in a wing t, or something that goes unstated but really needs mentioned, if you get a group that fits a better scheme, its ok to run something different.
