Woke up one morning, packed my bags & left Bauchi for Abuja - no job, no idea where I’d sleep.
In 6 years, became 1st Nigerian to win the World Bank blog4dev award, got full Scholarship to Germany, 2X Salzburg Global Fellow, 1st UN/IOM Youth Migration Ambassador for West Africa.
@Awele60930222 Lol. I planned to get a job in Abuja & then move but that wasn’t happening & then one night I saw a video by Zuckerberg saying “just do it, you don’t need to have it all figured out”. That just struck me & next morning I packed & left. Yes, it was a crazy move but glad I did it.
@TamunoDavid2006 Honestly, I think Bauchi is nice. It’s where I was born and grew up, and I still feel connected to it and visit whenever I’m in Nigeria. However, in terms of my interests and ambitions, it just wasn’t the right fit. I had to leave, even though it was my comfort zone.
@Watchermantalb In summary, for the kind of ambitions I had, Bauchi was not the right fit (a quiet town where people led simple lives). Moving to Abuja exposed me to more opportunities & access in the field of policy. It also pushed my drive & determination to chase my goals. Environment matters

@EziolisaP@Nikola_Teslah Exactly! That’s why I never try to desperately form or hold on to friendships or connections in anticipation of benefits. I just do my best and trust God to send the right people my way at the right time.
