Islamabad press club elections, a 🧵:
Last year I went to vote for the first time and my vote had already been polled. This year @abidhussayn met the same fate. Whoever wanted to save us the hassle, thank you!
Today, when I walked in at around 3 pm the polling agent told me…
Watching Gary Oldman crack up at fart sounds dubbed into his own scenes and laughing until he’s in tears might just be the purest joy you’ll see all day.
Universities in Pakistan have gone online for the rest of the month due to fuel shortages. But this isn't a world war because my name isn't Anne and my students names aren't Tom, Dick or Harry
Lawyers who stand up for those that are falsely accused of blasphemy are being threatened by the same gangs. The fact that the FIA has opened an enquiry against @AdvHadiali is all the proof one needs that these gangs are encouraged by the state.
Sorry but people are being massacred in Parachinar, why is the entirety of the state apparatus in Islamabad to stop a protest? It’s a protest. Let them have it. There are one hundred serious crises that need serious attention- a party protesting is the daily work of politics.
WDF strongly condemns the horrific sexual assault incident against Dolphin Ayan. We demand the accountability of the culprits and justice for Dolphin Ayan. We also demand that the state take action against the anti khwaja sira propaganda & violence prevailing in the country.
In the last few weeks there have been serious and concerning developments regarding my sons’ father, Imran Khan’s treatment in prison. The Pakistan authorities have stopped all visits to him by his family and his lawyers. They have also postponed all court hearings. In addition to cutting off in- person visits, and in defiance of a court order, his weekly calls to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who are British and who live in London, were stopped on 10th September. We have received reports that the authorities have now turned off the lights and electricity in his cell and he is no longer allowed to leave his cell at any time. The jail cook has been sent on leave. He is now completely isolated, in solitary confinement, literally in the dark, with no contact with the outside world. His lawyers are concerned about his safety and well-being.
These actions come in the context of ongoing targeting of Imran’s family, as well as his party (PTI) members and supporters in an attempt to silence them and all political opposition in Pakistan. Imran’s nephew, Hassan Niazi, a civilian, has been detained in military custody since August 2023. More recently, Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, who have continued to speak out on his behalf, have also been arrested as they made their way peacefully to a demonstration and they are currently being held in jail, despite there being no proper or lawful basis for their imprisonment.
In June this year the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Imran is unlawfully and arbitrarily detained and called for his immediate release.
As a matter of urgency , we are calling for Imran Khan’s release, and for the release of his sisters and nephew as well as for his sons’ contact with their father to be re-established, so that they may have assurance first-hand that he is well and not being mistreated.
Uh ..so we invite a literal extremist, whose entry has been barred in most countries for ties to terrorist organizations to Pak. Then he speaks like this on stage . LOL.
Is this the person the government invited as sort of a state guest? Look he is bad mouthing Pakistan and its national carrier. Who advised the govt to host him?
@ayeshaijazkhan ......open Jemima's Twitter and notice every second tweet calling Israel out, calling what's happening a genocide , and calling the British government cowards for their stance.....he didn't marry her idiot brother he married her.
Today we demand that we separate the lies from the truth and shed light on the very words in 295-C that have created terror and horror in the name of a man who taught us mercy and compassion #talkabout295C
