On June 16, a poor shopkeeper and his son were allegedly assaulted by individuals led by Abhijeet Kumar Yadav after being accused of selling beef.

According to allegations, the accusation was made without any forensic examination or official verification. The shopkeeper and his minor son were reportedly beaten, humiliated, and forced to perform sit-ups while holding their ears. They were allegedly pressured repeatedly to confess that the meat being sold was beef.

However, in the videos circulating online, the shopkeeper can reportedly be heard pleading to be left alone and saying that he would remove his shop, while not admitting that the meat was beef.

It is further alleged that only selected portions of the incident were shared on social media, where the videos gained significant attention and praise for those involved.

The incident raises serious questions: What will be the response of the district administration? Can individuals be accused of selling beef and subjected to violence without any scientific testing, investigation, or due process?

The facts of the case should be independently verified, and any allegations of assault, humiliation, or vigilantism should be investigated by the authorities.
