After 9 years of marriage, one toddler, two full-time jobs, and approximately 900 tiny arguments about dishes, daycare, and who forgot to move the laundry...
My wife and I have a few weird rules that keep our house from turning into roommate mode with a mortgage.
18 rules we use to run our house with less resentment and more connection:
My sister runs the whole house…kids, meals, everything while her husband works and is very successful. He’s super disciplined too: gym, yoga, perfect routine. But when my sister got sick for a few days, he had to take time off work to manage the house and kids. He even missed an international conference and a few work opportunities because he had to stay home. By day two he looked exhausted and completely overwhelmed. It made me wonder how many successful men are successful because someone else is quietly managing their life doing unpaid labour. And what women could achieve too… if they also had a wife at home.
JUST WONDERING HOW MOMS are supposed to work 9-5, drop the kids off at school at 8 AM, pick them up by 3 PM, stay on top of school activities, meal prep, cook dinner, keep the house clean, do the laundry, run the kids to extracurricular activities, climb the corporate ladder, save sick days for when the kids are sick, be a good friend, daughter, and partner, all while trying to take care of their own body and mental health…
The biggest casualty of this war won’t be the state of Afghanistan or Pakistan, won’t be militaries. It will be the people of KPK; ordinary men, women and children who have already spent decades paying the price for decisions made by those who have never once had to live with the consequences.
i use south asian women as a case study. record levels of iron deficiency from being underfed. they don’t go outside — vit d, calcium deficiency. no healthy physical exercise (no walking, jogging, gym etc) but lots of strenuous physical labour that taxes the joints, posture
(1) It’s been almost four years that my father, Idris Khattak, was abducted and is now in Adiala Jail.
He was abducted and tried in the Military Court, the charges which we still don’t know fully about. The trial is still going on in the military court and we’ve been kept

You can say all the prayers you want, but if you turn a blind eye to the fate of these children, I doubt you will access the gardens of heaven. These children matter. BAN Forced sodomy of children!
Someone asked me why my entire identity revolves around my ethnicity(which is not true, I stand for many things).
I will explain how I am always seen as just a Pashtun no matter what I believe in.

The idea that flood affectees will come to Karachi and commit crime is one of the most racist, classist and bigoted take I've ever seen on social media - and it is somehow being widely shared by people as the right thing to say.
Heartless doesn't even begin to describe it.
On growing up in a Sunni Household and finding solace in Ashura many tragedies later.
My family has been religiously fluid. They have been Sunni but moved from being Braelvis towards Wahabism or lack of braelvi practices. In any way Muharram has been always important.

Jazlan Faisal was an orphan who was raised by two frail grandparents and bunch of boys murdered him in cold blood over a minor dispute. Can we for once put aside politics and raise voice for the victim and his family? #JusticeForJazlan
Like Hamid Khan and Akbar S Babar, Sher Ali Arbab saib is what PTI should have always aspired to be. Dignified humans.
Instead it chose to become Shahbaz Gill, Fawad Chaudhary, Babar Awan, Vawda and other jokers.
Somewhere along the way, compromises were made.
Idris Khattak is in jail and is not vaccinated. He is 58, unvaccinated, in a crowded jail. He is also diabetic. I am concerned about his health especially with the 5th wave coming. He is there without any charge sheet, we have still not officially been informed about his sentence

And yet, to all of them, a blood relation couldn't have succeeded the Prophet.

The stereotype that women are more ‘emotional’ than men rests on the notion that sadness is a feeling that can and should be controlled, while anger and rage (emotions that men commonly express) are expected and justified.
