New ranged enemy for my survival horror game WIP.
It spits acid blobs and leaves acid fog around the area for a while. The fog hurts other enemies too not just the player.
@apepatrickdev Right I learned how important playtests are at an offline game booth :) They didn't play the way I expected lol.
And asking people to record their gameplay is a great tip! Thanks
Gamedev retrospect:
I think I need to block things out more and focus on finishing one small but complete game, instead of spending time making it look good. And I should test it with real people more often.
Added a few visual indicators to make combat more strategic.
Enemy FoV, enemy state, last known position, attack range.
Icons and some UI still need work.

Why do people dislike generative AI in games?
I don't think it's really about the AI.
It's the feeling that the game was thrown together carelessly, and someone is just trying to sell it fast with no real effort. and most people react to that without even realizing it.
Making the devlog took a while, so I didn't touch the game for weeks.
I'm making a survival horror game.
How you play affects how the game plays out later like the environment and who you run into.

The offline game booth might not be great for marketing. But what I learned from running the booth was a lot more than that. And I made a devlog about that.

This week, instead of developing, I'm making a devlog about the game booth I had last week.
It was my goal for this year and I think it's worth turning that experience into a video.
My game booth opened today!
Watching people play my game in person was genuinely fun.
But I also got some hard feedback.
"Controls feel uncomfortable"
Multiple players said the same thing. Felt bad that I couldn't fix it right away.
Can't sleep before fixing it. #gamedev
Not sure if every part time gamedev feels this way, but I feel trapped in my full time job. I know I need it until I can make a living with gamedev but there's no passion at all. Just drained, and keep asking myself why I'm still here.
