@Samuel_A_64@MawkAnthony He's the Pirate Software of Final Fantasy. Speaks with totally unearned confidence, never shuts up about how smart and intelligent he is, and acts like Square Enix should just do what he says and make the games he wants.
@tropchop1@CipherCommand@MoistCr1TiKaL It is honestly crazy that ppl say he got out-debated for having a trans opinion they don't agree with, meanwhile sneako wanted to fuck children and they just don't care.
@FlareonPrincess@Mikahaha_ Basically, you can tweet that you like pancakes, and you won't have 1000 racists and bot accounts turn it into the culture war battle of the day.
@OSINTOgre@Awk20000 Who would have have more first hand knowledge about Ethan and his kids? Destiny? Or Ian, one of Ethan's best friends for years, who met his kids and has been to his house?
Ding, ding, ding, it's Idubbz! It's easier to prove malice and defamation cause he would know better.
@ToRecallE@Rahll I always love idiots posting this horse carriage argument. Cars were faster and didn't require taking care of a living animal.
AI has provably worsened many industries, and its only value is in lining shareholder pockets in stocks. Google is trash now because of its AI.
@saermer I mean, GW2 has the best server maintenance across the MMO's. They never go down and you can play right through any maintenance or game update because them in waves across the servers. You just get a notification when it's time to relog and then done.
Absoulute nonsense take. What is being said affects the DC, or at least it should if you understand how DCs are actually supposed to work.
Do you do puzzles in your TTRPG? If so, when a player figures it out, do you then ask for an intelligence roll and if they roll low you go "Hmmmm (comes up with a reason for it not to have worked) sorry you failed"?
Do you have something like a trap door hidden underneath a rug and if a player says "I'd like to pull up the rug and see if anything is there"? and then say to them "Ok, I know you said you'd like to do that, but please roll investigation first. Oh noooo, so sorry, you CAN'T pull up the rug because you rolled too low."?
What the players choose to do and say with their characters can remove the need for a roll altogether. Similarly, what they choose to do can be impossible no matter how high you roll.
If you are caught in a castle and a guard questions you, saying you were there at the behest of a real named NPC will be MUCH EASIER (or even an auto pass situationally) than saying you've been a servant there for 20 years, and saying "Actually, I'm the king" should be impossible no matter how high you roll.
It's not because the player was good at voice acting, it's because he chose the perfect tack for his explanation that perfectly fit with the biases of who he was speaking to as well as fit with their knowledge. He wasn't speaking to a random NPC, he was speaking to a relative about his actions of the past week (trying to keep this spoiler free as much as I can).
Reasons why you should play Guild Wars 2, the best MMO:
- no sub, free core game, paid DLC (very worth, new features/mechanics, subclasses, content)
- best of action combat/mobility/active defense + classic rotation/skills, so fluid, no other combat like this
- horizontal progression, your end game max level max stat gear you worked for stays relevant (since 10 years ago), but cosmetics, legendaries, QoL items and upgrades, build diversity, mastery skills, new game mechanics, achievements etc, there's still more to "grind* if you wish, everything you do is rewarded and relevant - respects your time and minimum FOMO
- unique classes, quite diff from other games, like the Mesmer or Revenant especially with the subclass (specs)
- flexible builds, flexible playstyle, no strict holy trinity or class bound roles, almost every class and their specs can be built to do a variety of roles, or even theory craft new builds, something to get used to sometimes - such as aggro and tanking can be very different and based on diff things for diff encounters (i.e. positioning or certain stats)
- true open world and multiplayer, beautiful landscapes including verticality, dynamic events, massively 100+ player meta/bosses events or PvP (WvW)
- most amazing mount system in all mmos, not just speed boosts, but real momentum, weight, feel, and skills needed to use them, plus the assortment of skills they bring and a variety of interesting mounts
- years of content, living world episodic releases, expansions, annual mini expansions, it's still ongoing story with tons of beautiful maps. all content (mostly) is still very alive with players doing all content and all maps, everything still relevant, people pursuing achievemenrs, people leveling alts, people going for world events, or people playing at their own paces! you'll always see people, old content is not just left behind! and do you have to do them all? NO, if you don't want to but
- depth of lore is amazing, every single detail and nook and cranny has lore rich delights, even the Snargle Goldclaw smut fictions is fun to find....
- yes we have raids and some are pretty challenging, very mechanic heavy and requires a good group, with challenge modes and more. there's dungeons, fractals, strikes and raids... so pick any level of content you want!
- yes we have housing - actually we have entire maps of our own to customize whether it's guild hall or personal housing maps with full featured place as you want design and decoration system, really epic builds
- yes we have cat girls - full furries or just cat ears (or fox ears or elf ears or...) , we have a lot of fashion wars! shiny, realistic, less clothes, more armor, whatever you wish
- free flow leveling and play, following personal quest is only a tiny portion of the game, wander and participate in tons of events or explore the map,or craft, you'll always be progressing
- Structured arena PvP, casual duel areas, or open world wvw for large scale sieges or roaming and skirmishes, play as you want
- super welcoming kind helpful supportive community, always eager to help, even raid training servers and more, this is not a competitive focused game so naturally everyone stays pretty chill
- tons of resources or even plug ins and add ons to help, highly recommend research, it's a massive historied MMO afterall and all players use the resources out there
- remember they're gonna be actively working on GW2 with overhauls and QoL as they always do and new content even after GW3 launches, each guild wars game having its own character and flavor of gaming!
@KeelowSierra@SandyofCthulhu@Nerdcognito but in a particular moment if you hit the nail on the head perfectly, what's the harm? If it's poignant, powerful, and a good moment, why ruin it by forcing the potential chance of losing? We're here to have fun, so do what's fun.
@KeelowSierra@SandyofCthulhu@Nerdcognito Well keep in mind that this isn't a regular thing. It's only the 2nd time Brennan has ever done it, so he can still reason any other time that a guard/merchant/king/ whatever are more suspicious and even with a silver tongue you wont win every argument or speech.
@TheReunionVII Mercer didn't even know he was hired as the VA for Vincent when they brought him on, you think they then waltzed up to him one day and said "hey, we need to recast SEPHIROTH, know anyone available?"
@KeelowSierra@SandyofCthulhu@Nerdcognito Well, when playing a ttrpg, the most control we have when playing is how we choose our words and speak as our characters. I can improv a great speech, but even if I described my attack, what do I do? Do a cartwheel to prove im dexterous enough to do it?
