This Saturday, please remember. This is what continual Government inaction on climate policy looks like. 🐐💚https://t.co/mekncEt2Y6

In 1993 the worst recorded floods hit North Eastern Victoria. Mark Veitch and Raina MacIntyre, then trainees in the Australian FETP were sent to establish surveillance for health issues resulting from the flood. They provide a framework for responding to public health issues.
@MartySilkHack State and fed govt cost-shifting is a key reason why regional communities are so ill-prepared. They demand that councils do way more with way less. Rather than funding mitigation and strategic preparedness, Govts dodged and weaved and left it to communities to pick up the pieces.
Our thoughts are with the people and communities across QLD & NSW impacted by these catastrophic #flood events. 💔 With the release of the #IPCCReport last night, we know without faster emission cuts, more Australians will face worsening extreme weather events like this.
@RonniSalt I can't quite get my head around this. He's a Government Minister running a fundraiser to raise disaster support? What next? A lamington drive to fund the war effort?
@MarekRivers First case arrived in our village today. Does he have any tips on how to quarantine from the rest of the family when living in a mining donger? So many people here are still in post-bushfire temporary accommodation.
Have you heard the one about the Govt’s $4 billion disaster fund that’s earned more interest for the Govt than it’s helped disaster victims? Watch Amanda Stoker try to explain it. They love an announcement, but they never deliver. #estimates
Some extended interviews from Ray Martin’s doco, The Forgotten Australians on Prime 7 tonight. The devastating impact of bushfires and Covid on the arts community highlighted in the interviews @zenaarmstrong and @thenewgraces https://t.co/0e3V9LWUNp
@sortius@gavmorris I know people who are planning to move from cities because they are worried about climate change impacts and/or the potential social breakdown fomented by irresponsible media reports. Do you think she'd be interested in them?
Discussing the critical importance of regional media with Peter Logue and Zena Armstrong in Cobargo. With Ray Martin and Robb Shaw-Velzen. Australia needs to drastically lift its game to ensure the survival of regional journalism and community discourse. Never more important.
@latikambourke Most people overseas will interpret this as a fancy logo for a chemical element. Don't imagine that many will immediately associate it with Australia without being told.
a major expenditure on new social housing would meet so many objectives: much needed new homes, jobs, economic stimulus , apprenticeships. Cash to those already in a house adds nothing extra to the community
