When flour mill owners found out in 1939 that poor mothers were using flour sacks to make clothes for their children, they began printing them with beautiful, cheerful patterns (650x838)

This is insane - Apple is removing its most advanced, end-to-end encrypted security feature for cloud data in China after the CCP government ordered the company to build a backdoor for accessing user data
Oh sorry, that’s the UK. 🇬🇧

There’s a massive amount of misinformation out there about Apples removal of Advanced Data Protection from iCloud services in the UK. So I hope this helps you understand things a bit better.
- Apple haven’t created a backdoor into your phone OS, they are turning off an opt in feature to appease the UK government who demanded a back door, to which Apple said no.
- Apple are turning off ADP in the UK for services such as iCloud Photos, iCloud Drive, Notes, Reminders, Safari Bookmarks, Voice Memos, these service will STILL HAVE Standard Data Protection by default.
- Your iCloud Keychain, Health data, iMessage and FaceTime ARE STILL end to end encrypted and this will NOT change.
If you feel moving your data from your iPhone and iCloud will increase your security by all means do that, bare in mind that Google Drive and Google Photos has no end to end encryption and never has had, but you can pay a 3rd party for the pleasure of ADP, as you can with most services out there.
Also, Android is open source and if you believe that it’s more secure than iOS and has no back doors then you will have bigger things to worry about.
If you have sensitive data you are worried about people seeing, you’ll be smart and have it encrypted somewhere that isn’t cloud based.
While it sucks Apple has done this to appease these muppets in UK government, at least point the finger who is to blame.
Hope this helps.

@GailAlfarATX@elonmusk I raised five also- they LOVED watching me ride the cart into the rack recklessly filled with kids & big kids hanging on the side 🤣🤣
1. FBI Director Christopher Wray just told the Senate Judiciary Committee that Congress (1) MUST reauthorize FISA 702, and (2) MUST NOT impose a requirement that FBI obtain a search warrant before conducting “backdoor searches” of American citizens through the 702 database.

"Leadership begins with your behavior.
What’s more powerful? A manager or coach or teacher who tells you the right thing to do? Or one who shows you how to live and work by example?
People gravitate toward the standard you set, not the standard you request."

Governments claiming the authority to *freeze people's bank accounts* because they want to crush a protest movement is tyrannical and obscene. If you would oppose China or Russia doing it, you must oppose Canada doing it.
Very glad @CanCivLib exists.
