NEWS: Meta has officially unveiled its $799 Meta Ray-Ban Display AI glasses.
• Color 600-by-600-pixel resolution
• 20-degree field of view
• 5,000 nits of max brightness
• 2% light leakage, making it hard for other people to see that there is a display
• Gesture control with an EMG wristband that translates the signals created by your muscle activity into commands for your glasses
• Comes with transition lenses, and the brightness adjusts depending on ambient UV light
• Monocular: display only appears in the one lens
• Microphones, speakers, cameras
Meta: "The display is placed off to the side, so it doesn’t obstruct your view. And it isn’t on all the time — it’s designed for short interactions that you’re always in control of. This isn’t about strapping a phone to your face. It’s about helping you quickly accomplish some of your everyday tasks without breaking your flow. It’s the first product that takes microphones, speakers, cameras, and a full-color display backed with compute and AI — and puts it all together in a single device that’s stylish and comfortable."
Hits U.S. shelves Sept 30th. Expansion to Canada, France, Italy, and the UK is planned for early 2026.
6-12 months from now, the big story in crypto is going to be credit and borrowing.
It will explosively grow over the next few years.
Two vectors:
1. There’s nearly $4 trillion dollars of crypto and growing: when people can borrow against this crypto, rather than sell, they will.
2. There’s over $60 trillion in public equities alone in the US. As assets tokenize, someone with $7,000 of a stock will be able to borrow against that for the first time, Onchain.
Crypto is going to reshape capital markets. It’s just getting started.
FINALLY, someone said what needed to be said. To be Black is to be American.
My ancestors have been in America since the 1700s. 4 fought in the Civil War, not to mention started churches, schools, and businesses.
I'm Black, and I'm from America, the land my ancestors built 🖤
@ausrapr I made “digital collages” where I mashed up music videos or fashion shows) with poems or soundscapes to tell new stories. Here’s the only one that didn’t get taken down by a legal department: https://t.co/tXbfmuAMKT
As a digital artist who stopped publishing since all my work is *technically* considered copyright infringement, this isn't new and will continue to happen.
We must start delineating between NFT art and smart contract/tokenization technology used for non-art purposes.
@MasonRothschild This being the 1st lawsuit of its kind, a lot of brands are following the case and celebrating this as protection of their intellectual property.
Artists, however, are arguing against the censorship.
1 thing is clear - digital products are not going anywhere
What do you think?
I studied art history and film, so I'm not here to argue case law. But as we're setting new legal precedents in the #Web3 space – from what constitutes a token as a security to what is art – it would help to have a more liberal take on if these laws even apply.
@MasonRothschild The argument also pointed to "Rogers" legal test, which is a decades-old standard that allows artists to use a trademark without permission as it meets a minimal level of artistic relevance & doesn't explicitly mislead consumers.
As an OG Metabirkin Discord member (joined when it was under 100 members) & WL, I can confirm at no time were people misled to believe they were buying an Hermes NFT (which would be copyright infringement). The project was a play on Gunna's Baby Birkin song, lol.
4 years ago, I got a call that changed my life forever.
It’s taken 4 years to accept my Dad not being here but still always being with me.
To everyone who thinks they can’t go on, no matter what, keep going. Live a little longer. It’ll be worth it.
You’re worth it.
