Doubles - I owe ya'll an update for specifics (now ~next week). Will still follow similarly to singles (Swiss->DE bracket, no divisions). Looking to make sure we make it worth your time/money, especially with such a high demand.
7 spots remaining in doubles as of this post.
Tested the current Remix format here, making adjustments to improve the experience before Remix and EVO. A formal announcement will be made when it’s ready.
Real talk, the weekend was doing too much so we know y'all were booked and busy. 💅
Because we're nice like that, the Early Bird registration deadline is officially pushed to the 28th.
And before you ask... yes, the reminders will actually work this time, lowkey crying rn. 😂
Correction, not Top 3 but instead Loser’s Finals and Grand Finals specifically in the Championship rounds only (Grand finals in divisional finals only too)
Remix 2026 - DanceDanceRevolution Tournament Change Log (Summary of changes from 2025)
This is a thread to go over what is changing and what is staying for this year's DDR tournament at Remix.
Final formats (All divisional finals and all matches in top 3) will be Bo5s but with no bracket reset.
If a player is coming from the winners side, they'll have both side and song choice.
No advantage to either player if both coming from the same side.
Advantage diagram below.
Information about doubles should be in next week.
Expect it to also follow similarly to singles: Swiss -> Bracket structure, no divisions, level ranges based on registration.
Level distribution again will be determined by who registers.
This is being done to ensure we account everyone along the whole skill range. Adjustments to seeding are being done this year to refine this range early.
This will not be final until around registration ending.
What's staying
- Structure (Everyone starts at Swiss. Advance go to championship. Eliminated go to Divisional Finals).
- Formats before finals (5 matches minimum)
- Level distribution evolving on competitor skill level (Every registration influences each round's level range)
Formats of non-elimination matches being Bo1 and elimination & [non-final] bracket matches being Bo3 will stay the same.
All players will have a guarantee of 5 matches minimum through the weekend, and a minimum of 2 Bo3s with even more matches due to loss resets taking place.
What's changing
- Judgement offset usage (unrestricted)
- Pick/Ban process (balanced then reactive)
- All finals formats (longer, winners advantage, no reset)
- Loss reset (0 losses for advancing from a Swiss round or to the next day)
- Top 4 will not have 14s (self explanatory)
Structure of Swiss into Championships/Divisional ensures players earn their way in instead of by seeding into linear formats.
All competitors start here, high seeds will bypass some initial Swiss rounds.
Championship rounds are double elem. Divisional Final formats TBD.
Loss resets are being tested due to how bad it feels to come back the next day to play a single match and be out after preparing. We're also doing it for Swiss to give more rounds to players.
This will be evaluated to determine if this will stay for beyond 2026.
Pick/Ban update make the first song a more balanced pick, then al picks after are aimed to give an advantage to the player who recently lost.
Before it was advantage to one player, then to the other. Too swingy and no room for adjustments.
This will be tested at Fanime and Evo
Judgement offset usage last year was restricted due to the mod being released close to the event. No concerns from the other events from its usage, so there is no need to restrict it.
As always, we'll react if a Force Majeure situation related to the mod were to come up.
